Will a RHD Civic/CRX clip work in a Wagon?

I know the dashes are different but will the firewall, strut towers, and frame rails work? Has anyone converted a wagon to RHD?

Firewall is taller on the wagon. Just import a wagon clip.

How much do you think a clip and shipping would be?

Noooo idea. Probably cheapest from Japan. You could try Strong Honda, i guess they might do it. http://www.stronghonda.co.nz/

Strong told me 1500NZD for parts and to get it to Port Angeles then I would be responsible to get it through customs and the rest of the way to me. The customs part kinda scared me because I don't know how that is done.

damn i need to figure out the whole customs part cuz i need to do this haha It is pretty scary tho havin to deal with the whole over seas thing. If i could have it my way, i'd go cut it out myself and carry it back wit me on the plane haha

I'm still waitin for them to reply back with an email, but i'm gonna try to ask more about how to take care of my side of the trade and i'll let you know whats up.

Man you guys are getting me excited. Thinking about this shit too, let me know how it goes. This is one of my ultimate goals for my car.

I was dealing with a guy named Chris and he was very fast to respond to my emails. He told me that they only had one in stock with a tan dash. Transit time from NZ to here was approx. 35 days. Also the price I was quoted included both fenders. Dom let me know what you learn about customs. I haven't had the chance to really look into it yet. I'm sure that it would freight into Port Angeles since you are California. I got on the gov't website and found the contact info for shipping car parts but I've misplaced it since then.
  • Ok so he replied w/ this and some other chit chat...

"We have it available for $800NZD (will not include panel parts) you will get firewall cut with steering rack beam and rack, dash, steering column etc...
Freight will be $600NZD to Port only any taxes or duties incurred at your end will be your responsibility."

So i messaged him back now asking him for all the info and help that he can give me with the whole Port process and i'll let you know what they say when i get a response. Damn i'm gettin a little too excited :D
  • Talk about quick replies haha wasnt too much of an answer but now i'm headin in the right direction haha

"You will need to contact a customs agent as they will be able to run though
what is required to make everything a smooth operation. Maybe contact a
freight company over there and tell them what you are doing then they should
be able to point you in the right direction."

He's not gonna know jack about customs on your end, take his advice and hit up a freight company your side to figure it out.

Chris seems to be one of the better guys to deal with from Strongs.
  • Ya he's a cool ass dude. He's sendin me pics of his H22 Odyssey right now haha

I'll let u know what info i get from the freight company.

So sick. Man He could be a rich man over this. Im itching my fingers about this. He has good prices too.
  • Well its not his buisness. Its like an overseas junkyard and they have a bunch of people that take calls and orders for em. But yes i am as well haha

Yeah i think they employ about 40 people there? Not a small operation that's for sure.

About a year ago there was a huge fire there and they lost anything pre-1996 or something along those lines, those clips will either be fresh from japan or taken from wrecked NZ cars.

Make sure you triple check chassis numbers. Don't get anything EF1, EF4 or EY as they are carburettored.

I'd be asking for an EF2 Shuttle 56i clip.

Is that going to make a difference?
  • HaydzHaydz Moderator
Don't know if the firewalls are the same, the carbs dont have return fuel lines etc - can't remember if that runs through firewall or not.
  • Ya i previuosly told him that i wanted the 56i clip and so thats the one i'm gonna be gettin :D

    Hehe I'm world famous :)

We have 100 staff and process over 100 cars a week locally, yes we had a fire but its wasn't that bad....apart from the EK9 CTR,ITR,S2K and NSX parts that turned into little blobs of plastic/alloy had a tear in my eye :(

We back bigger and better than before so here to help.
