1990 RT4WD WAGON in WA

Hello to all wagoneers!

I purchased my wagon in January 2008. Drove from Eastern WA, to Snohomish and bought her for 1600$. Info on the car later.... I drover back, and hit an insane blizzard before hitting the pass. Needless to say when i finally got outa the traffic, i cruised comfortably through the pass at 45+ mph, meanwhile passing big 1 ton trucks tipped upside down, say 4 cars on their top. THis car is no joke, it really does excellllent. From that time on I had fell in love. Getting to test the RTAWD out on the first hour was great!!

Wagon had 167,000 miles, with an untouched d16a6 stock, stock tranny. Had a bad clutch but worked for the time.
Only thing wrong i noticed right away was a good sized dent in the rear drivers side door, but door worked like new, just cosmetic really. Missing the molding(if you have a parts car i need that door, preferrably red. Still has clean title.

Motor ran great tranny shifts like butter.
I did nothing to the car, except have so much fun in the snow of 2008. Im the sprring I tinted the windows 20%, looks saaaweet. Then in fall of 2008 I orderd a 30K mileage JDM DOHC ZC, since I did the research and was a direct bolt in swap.. Got that for 1,000$ shipped, compllete swap. I also got an OEM clutch and resurfaced the flyweel. New tie rod ends, and a new axle driver side. Serviced Real time system, Honda Tranny oil, coolant flush, etc. In all I put down $3,200. Still running on the d16a6 ECU, so if you got one of dem id buy that too...

The interior is very very clean...Does not have A/C but who cares.. Stock OEM CD player. RT4WD sterring wheel. Dark GREY INTERIOR... NOT MUCH AROUND.... New Front windshield. Stock RTAWD wheels, and new tires. OH AND OEM ROOF RACK!!!!

Had me a ZC-RT a few years back when I lived in Spokane. Amazing car in the snow. Especially with studs.

    Where in EW are you?

PS- try Foreign Engines in Couer d' Alene next time you need something. They got me my ZC for $550. Delivered it to my house for free, and since it crossed state lines, I didn't have to pay tax. That was in '04 so maybe things have changed. $1000 just seems kinda steep with no ECU even.

    Love the car!

thanks for the tips! Yea, kinda steep but the motor had all the paperwork, test such as leakdown, compression, vacuum, everything. so it is a really reliable motor.

I am in the Tri-Cities herei n E Washington. I am planning on turboing the Real Time. If anyone has any pointers on that i would love to get in on it.
  • Another ZC RT in Washington!!!!!! Right on! Mine should be turbo'd with in the month just looking for some mandrel bends on this little island I live on, might have to EBAY them...

    Welcome to the forums!!!
  • To the op. I have a question. I just bought a 1991 rtawd and the d16a6 is old and tired. I am thinking of getting a dohc zc. My question is will the stock six speed tranny bolt right up to the dohc zc, or did you have to use the 5 speed that came with the zc. thanks for any info that maybe helpful.
  • What kind of power difference does the zc engine make over the stock a6? I want to get a little more power in the near future. Nice rt by the way.

That I understand and see how it's a mandatory rule here in HCW or any other forum; to search 1st!! Still though, a question is in need of an answer, no difference than those in need of some direct help, as I know responses like mine given gave me assurance when others gave input whenever I was in need. Despite if I searched or not. It's great to give a hand or inputs/advice.

Just saying though, not everyones gonna listen/search or even understand how to search (oddly enough there's a grip that are slow/don't know how), would be best to just give it to them rather than rack up the questions. It'll never change or stop, so why push it or nudge it over? Somewhat like a community always in the help... Besides what i gave could of been another great source to find for those that had/would/did search.

Anyways more direct so it ain't a pointless babble post, what the hell is a lock-thread-monster Charb1618!?
  • Its just irritating when you answer a question a thousand times. Its always better off to search.
