They're great. There's clearance for the front discs. I'm on 13x8 vw meshies with a 1.5 lip. Though... on the free way, when I'm driving 60mph i'l be at a rough 3400 rpm!! At 70 id be at 4k+. Not good for mileage and top speeds. =(

I test fit a 13" Honda alloy on the front of my RT4WD wagon and it fit just fine.

The only thing about 13s is you probably won't get as tall a tire as stock. The stock size is 175/70/14, and the tallest commonly available 13" size I've seen is 175/70/13. According to http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html , that's 1" smaller in diameter than stock, and your car will ride half an inch lower.

Still works, though. And if I had a deal on cheap/free 13" snow tires I'd probably take it too. As it is, I already stole my snow tires for next winter - 14s, even. I'm waiting for a rallycross in October to use up my dead snows from last winter, and then I'll get the fresh ones mounted up.
  • I have some old school 13x7 ATS wheels that fit perfect. Well they used to fit perfect, now they would need to be 13x10 to fit right.
  • Got vx wheels on my rt right now. looks nice and no problems. oh and just wondering what and why do you mean about the "not good for mileage."
  • He is probably running a shorter sidewall on his 13's meaning he travels less per revolution as opposed to a stock tire.

It will also register as a higher speed than you are actually travelling.

    Hankook makes a 185/80/13 tire.

At 80mph I'm at 4100rpm in 5th with my wagon, I'm on DX Civic steels [13x5.5"] and 175/70-13s. Hopefully I'll have a decent set of 205/50-15s on Fat-5s soon enough, that'll really help top-end and mileage.

S :( RRY the 205's won't help your gas mileage OR topend. The extra width will cause too much drag.Your mileage will drop.Several reasons it won't help your topend:You'll hit the wgn's top speed b4 the 205's height advantage even kicks in & then that wide tire drag again  ,the heavier 15's and that 6mm height increase would increase the drag under the wgn. It's only about a 1/2" difference. The only advantage you'll get is in cornering grip. That's why I like the 13's (e.g. VX or 3g HF).

My RT came with 13" steel wheels as standard.
