Rear hatch struts

Hi fellas,

Just wondering where you buy replacement struts for the big hatch... I found these on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330346979446&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=014

Are they worth it? Or, is it better to buy from a local auto parts store?

Is it worth not getting bashed in the head when your broomstick or whatever falls out of the propped open hatch?

I ordered mine from Rockauto, I think, for maybe a couple bucks cheaper. Got 'em. Installed them. No problems with the install or operation ever since. If I'd known it was that easy I would've replaced them on my previous wagon too.

I haven't had the opportunity to price it out. What's the average cost for a pair from an auto supply store versus egay?

I'd imagine there'd be a wait time for ordering in a store as well since the wagons aren't that common...

Anyone know if struts from another Honda/Acura are compatible?

I've purchased struts in the past from ebay sellers, no problems, usually comparable quality to other aftermarket strut manufactures out there.

  • i got new hatch struts with my wagon but i dont have the hardware....anyone no where i can find these?
  • Got mine fom an ebay seller too. Fantastic. The boot opens itself when you pull the latch now :)
  • bought mine for a 91 from honda, they don't list them for an 88 for som reason, but they also came with hardware. might want to try honda to see if you can buy the hardware seperate. will be a long shot and probably pricey!
