broke off my damn turn signal switch

Was working on my wire tuck. I reached inside the car to turn the wheel and somehow managed to break the turn signal/ headlight switch right off.
Jesus christ...... :x .

Do I just need to pull the wheel to get the switch? How much fun is the job :D ? Somebody please report back that it's a piece of cake.

    thank god!

I'm used to pulling old vw wheels. pretty much need a hammer, puller, and a hand grenade for them!

Yeah, the hondas aren't as bad as some of the vw's.

just the 1 19mm nut inside the "H" emblem and the wheel's off. The cover has a bunch of phillips screws, and so does the arm assembly. I wish there was something i could say "look out for this" but it's just that straight forward ;)

So once I get it apart is does the (broken) arm come free from the turn signal/ headlight dealy or will I need the whole arm/ electrical switch assembly.

no, you can separate the two switches... they both mount to a collar that goes onto the steering column. It's easier to just pull the whole thing, though... called a combination switch.

the thing to watch out for is the plastic cover you have to remove to get to the switches... there is a top half and a bottom half and they have little tabs that can break. You have to squeeze along the seam to get the tabs to separate...

actually, if you break them, it's ok. They'll go back together but might not fit perfect.
  • Yes, you can buy the headlight switch by itself. It is still available new and the ones from the other 90-91 Civic's (3/4/5 door and CRX) are the same (Headlamp portion only, as not all others had a rear wiper).
