rear axle seize?

So I am removing the 4wd system on my wagon, I have removed the rear diff, driveshaft etc. My axles are hanging down in the rear not attatched to anything... I have taken the 32mm nut off the outer end of the axle. I CANT GET THE AXLE OUT!! I know I have to leave the outer chunk of the axle in to hold the wheel bearing together, but I can't get the axle out of the trailing arm... Is there anything else that needs to be removed to get the rear axle to slide out of its home? I even took wd-40 and an air hammer to it with no luck... Any suggestions?

Hey bro, I just had the same problem.

You can take the hole trailing arm to a workshop with a hydraulic press, and press the axle out.

    or do what i did.
i took a spare axle nut, ground the piece with the tab off, and welded it to a large bolt, could weld to any number of things.
then i screwed the nut back on the shaft and smashed the end of the bolt with a sledge hammer
Sounds crude, but it works really well. just make sure #1 that the end of the bolt makes positive contact with the axle shaft, once the nut is done up tight.
#2, you can only move the axles about 10mm like this before the nut hits the spline, but that should be enough anyway.

Thanks man, I might need to get it pressed out... I'm pissed I kinda mushroomed it a little bit, I'll have to bevel off the first two threads once I get the axle out...

if youd done what i said you wouldnt of had a problem, direct impact force and safe hands.

Just screw it on and smash it with the biggest hammer you got.
