Roadtrippin on Hornby Island - Lots of Pics
ScallyWag
Wagonist
Took the wag on its maiden voyage out of town, to Hornby Island, BC. Brought along my sister because mom said I had to, har har, and a complete (free) windsurfer that I "saved" from being thrown out went up on the (free) roof racks, while inside rode the (free) cargo pod.
Inside the first (of 3!) ferry, 6am:
Heading up the east coast of Vancouver Island - Took the scenic route north
Departing Buckley Bay, enroute to Denman Island (2nd ferry ride)
A helpful map!
Approaching Shingle Spit, Hornby Island
Arrival at Hornby, pardon my big pink pole
The Cabin - I slept in the Westfallia (awesome!)
The wag by the water tank, Joe King Athletic Park... My buddy Bryan
Two views of the shack in the outfield fence
Wonder how often they've paid out
The wag at the ghost house - a cool puppet show with a bunch of characters, trapdoors, sound effects etc all controlled by one person via ropes
The Camel Head, Tribune Bay... This is the warmest saltwater beach on the west coast of Canada... White powder sand, beautiful girls, cold drinks, some cough cough - Paradise!
Playing Bottle-bee on the beach (a drinking game)
The FREE windsurfer back in use - instead of a landfill
This is the "Copse", a public unregulated market where the Hornby islanders sell local produce, crafts, foods etc... Very Hippy, Dude.
Went for a hike around Helliwell Park... strange rock formations, eagles everywhere, rare arbutus forests... a very cool place.
Here's Whaling Station Bay, another awesome beach in summer
My new favorite shot of the wag
Goin home... Cargo pod on top with almost all baggage, four adults inside = versa-style!
Waiting and waiting in Nanaimo for a ferry... good chance for some pics!
And a rainbow to end with... Thanks for road trippin' with me and my wag!

I used to have a Westy just like that, same color. Brings back some fond if somewhat foggy memories
with scrotum services...
Scenery is fantastic. I see nothing but beautifull pix from that area and yours fall right into that same catagory.
Love the old Westys too. I spent a solid summer in one of those things. Camped all but one weekend that summer. Great memories.
Thanks for taking the time to post all that up. I definatly enjoyed the BC tour!
x2!!!
PS - here's an eagle in an arbutus forest for Mr. E.Beagle (hint: top left)
And a shot of the Hornby Island bicycle tree - yep, this is where they grow 'em
...^^why is that man taking a crappy picxr of me? hm^^...
I shall make it my new life's mission to get an eagle in frame with the wagon next -
none of that photoshop magic -
Now to buy 50Kg of herring...
Man, if I had a nickle every time I've had to say that....
