A little thump in the trunk..

I started working on my system in the '89.. It consists of a OEM honda CD player with Aux in for ipod/sat running to a 16band per channel eq then splits to a 4 channel swiss audio amp (300x4) then also a swiss audio (1100x1) running swiss audio components in a co-axial setup and 2 12" 4ohm dvc subs... there is also 2 1farad caps under the amp rack :) I just need to cut a metal insert for the grill on the sub and have a piece of glass cut for the amp rack :)

the subs will handle 750watts, it's not a loud as my other wagon, but it will still hit 145db(the joys of having a rta) the LEDs are from micro-led they are bright! I use the same ones in my domelights! I should have the covers done by this week :)
  • Nice how to you messure how many db it can hit?

How did you attach the fiberglass piece to the box and make it air tight? Do you have any more pics of the build?
  • Old SkoolOld Skool Council Member
I don't have any more pics.. I just took them as I built it on saturday.. the sub enclosure has 4 sides that drop into the wheel well, I then marked the well with a marker to give me the area to cover, I then grab spray glue and spray the well, place a garbage to the glue and stick it down. The fiberglass comes next, I lay down 2 layers overlapping the outlined marks, I then drop the box back in while the glass is still semi wet, I then reach thru the opening and lay mat from the edge of the box to the floor glass. I wait for it to get hard, I then remove the box and lay another 2 coats of mat from the inside, wait for it to dry and then take the air body saw and cut off the excess from the enclosure.
  • nice................i want one.....

I get that part im still wondering how you attached the fiberglass to the box and made it air tight? did you just fiberglass the bottom piece to the MDF or what ever you used?
  • Old SkoolOld Skool Council Member
The box is placed back in the wheel well when the fiberglass is still curing, I then attach it to the floor layer using more mat, so basically overlapping the mat from mdf to the floor, doing this it seals and attaches at the same time :)

very nice. did you attach it inside the box or the outside?
  • Old SkoolOld Skool Council Member
Inside only, if you attach to the outside it will change the way the enclosure fits the well, the picture showing the trimmed glass makes it look like it's not sealed, but it is :)

In terms of volume you guys might be able to pop a bit of static louder than this setup.

Stop jumping on the guys balls, deep down you know your setup will never be this good.
