very very VERY easy to replace. its bolted on by 4 bolts. two from the hatch area, which looks to be MIA anyways, the other two yo have to acces from behind the interior trunk panels.

Great place to hide a battery cut off. 4 bolts and you can remove the panel to access it and its easily put back on to hide it. Someone on HMT did this with a accord.

Ah OK. Again i'm going to have to say either a) the USDM wagon is different or b) You guys are wrong and it's not four bolts, its two bolts and two spot welds.

My Shuttle definately didn't have four bolts holding that panel on it was spot welded on the inside.

i replaced my panel, it was definitely only bolted on. granted, two of those looked spot welded, maybe :? i can get pictures of it tomorrow...

It's one bolt, accessible from the hatch, and two nuts on studs behind the taillight/interior plastic. Those two nuts can be a mofo as they're covered in seam sealer.

Thanks for the info bam! Do you know if both sides are done like this? I would like to remove the passenger side one.

I just removed both those pieces from my USDM '88 RT. Both were four bolts, as described earlier: two hidden by the hatch cover, two behind the hatch interior plastic. 11mm bolts, if I recall correctly (which I probably don't). No gaskets or anything: just unbolt, paint, and bolt 'em back up.

i wanted to replace mine, but couldnt because there are 2 rivets, and two bolts. both you can get to no probs if you take the tail light out. but i didnt fancy drilling out the rivets, so i left it :(

    it does seem that way.
prehaps some you guys have had these replaced before you owned it and they just bolted them back rather than re-weld/rivet

Thanks for the picture. I might take a look inside the boot then, and see if they have bolts on.

What name would this panel be given?

    "randopanel".

But seriously what would you call it?
  • Marc_EE9Marc_EE9 Senior Wagonist
I'd call it the rear end corner body panels :?
