Dead RPM

Hey guys. I know that you guys have talked about this before but I don't see anything that relates to my problem. My RPM needle is not moving period. Turn on the engine and nothing happens. I took out the cluster and checked the connection and everything looks fine. Has this happened to any of you before? any info would be appreciated!!!

could be your tach is just broken.
or, a connection is loose in the distributor. i believe thats what the tach is wired too.

SO, either try a different gauge cluster, or check out the connections in your distributor =)

sounds good. I'll have a look at the distributor tomorrow. Hopefully it isn't gonna be a headache. Thanks!

naw it shouldnt. gauge clusters are pretty cheap too. for the most part :P
  • They are pretty cheap unless you buy one from Wagodizzle
  • The tach signal wires come from the 2-pin plug on the distributor, check for any bad connections there or in the dizzy. Or like mentioned above, bad connections in the instrument cluster.

On my CRX when I first start it up I have to whack the top of the cluster to get the tach needle moving, works every time.
