block off plates

I have searched high and low and I cant find the info im looking for. I like many others dont have a passenger mirror. Untill I do the PM mod I want to ditch the driver side mirror. I have talked to a few cops (2 retired and 1 active) and they all told me as long as I have rear vision (rear view mirror) I would be fine. So I found a set of block off plates for civics on PWjdm.com and was wondering if anyone knew if these fit? I know mirrors are different.

here is the link to what im looking at.

I believe the shape of the doors are different, and since the wagon has taller doors, the triangle would be at a steeper slope.

If someone could compare Civic hatch or CRX mirrors to wagon mirrors, we could get a rough idea.

... Actually, I'll bother my little bro tonight, see if I can take some measurements off his Si-R.

Just ask a rhd counterpart... I'm sure there is some wagon owners that can score a delete plate :)

Weak sauce. it's already gonna be a bitch it retro fit of mirrors

the triangle is much different then a sedan or hatchback. the mirror assebly itself is the same (as long as you stay year specific)

Someone here has them and I cant find the pic for it to ask where he got them from.
  • They got them from the UK. They drive on the other side therefore their block off plate is the one you are looking for.
  • skinnyskinny Senior Wagonist
Well there are a hand full of countries that drive on that side. Japan, Australia, India, the UK, and many many others. here is a pic of the world and blue is the RHD area's
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
yeah, but all those countries came standard with two mirrors.
  • Thanks wagodizzle I forgot who I was dealing with.
  • Isn't the passenger side mirror (rhd or lhd) an option? northwest_war_wagon has the mirror delete on his 91 RT4wd. So I'm sure its a fractory option and probably not a very costly one, thats why you see more with the mirror than without.

So its on to finding part numbers yay!

    lol...
the mirror WAS a factory option on the wagons here in the US (because we are cheap)
i have yet to see any EDM or JDM wagons with block off plates
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
thats for the right (passenger) side.

I know its only for the USDM passenger side.... I thought you guys already figured it out that 2 mirrors are standard on all the countries that are RHD so good lucking finding the left delete.... right???

Nope, as mentioned in another thread you can get block off plates for both sides from Japan and install slug eyes on the fenders.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
    interesting.
indirectly though, they still got two mirrors
  • HaydzHaydz Moderator
True, but it would mean they need block off plates. :P

What are slug eyes? Oh wait I know what they are... the fender mounted mirrors, right?
  • HaydzHaydz Moderator
Yeah... just literally makes a brown wagon look like a slug.

haydz, what is the vidibility like with thos mirrors? i would think its much more limited as you have to focus on something further away and through a smaller mirror..
  • skinnyskinny Senior Wagonist
I have used them on roadsters and well its what you would think. Small mirror means you can only see a small area. I have always been told they put them on the drivers side so you have less or no blind spot and dont have to take your eyes off the road so much. Its odd to see both a door mirror AND a slug eye on a car at the same time but what ever floats your boat

I never actually drove a Shuttle with the slug eyes so i'm not sure but i assume it's much like you and skinny have stated. It really does make it look like a slug. Or a turd with eyes and wheels.
  • skinnyskinny Senior Wagonist
It would be a bitch to adjust them by yourself. Im assuming there manual. if they were power that would be gangster
