Power Seatbelt fix

I haven't seen any posts about how to fix the power seatbelts in the wagons. So I thought i'd post something up that fixed mine.

On the positive battery terminal there is this fuse box. Yes, it is for the power seatbelts. In my case the fuse box was totally corroded. So I took the 2 wire connector that plugs into this fuse box, clipped the connector off and added 2 inline fuses and put in 30amp fuses, like the factory fuse box, and hooked it up to the positive terminal.

Works wonderfully, looks pretty good too!! :D when i get a pic of the inline fuses i'll post them up.

enjoy and hopefully this will help someone else out.

the fuze went out on my brothers wagon on me and i didnt know why the seat belts quit working
until a fellow wagonist showed me
  • will this work if its just one seatbelt going out?
  • will this work if its just one seatbelt going out?

possibly. it could just be one fuse that's going out or getting corroded.

When I first got my wagon the passenger belt would work randomly then it just stopped, then a few months later the driver side did the same thing. I went about a yr and a half with the beeping before I decided to take a look at it.
  • Power seatbelts ??

Any chance of a video for your Euro brothers who have never seen this before please ??
  • i'm trying this in the morning.....the beeping is driving me crazy! if this works, you're my new hero! :!:
  • so my wagon has the box, but doesnt have any wires coming off of it, any chance someone can trace it back into the car ans see where those wires go so i can run some new ones? would be much appreciated. and anyone know where that beep box is in the meantime, gotta rip that thing out!
  • secondary fix, so my wires were gone, went to honda and got a few diagrams and found another solution.

remove the lower b pillar cover (center pillar), you should see the seatbelt motor. disconect the sensor, on the motor side attach 2 wires that will run to the battery. with the wires attached to the plug, touch the ends to the pos and neg on the battery, remove the leads once the motor stops moving or if it doesnt move. if it doesnt move switch the leads to the battery. if it still doesnt work your motors are probably burned out.

i did this just to get my seatbelts back. they wont operate correctly but they will be functional and it gets rid of that annoying beep!

both my seatbelts work fine but the dash indicator still comes on at random times and beeps could it be those two fuses perhaps?
  • Possibly...
  • You can also buy the fuse box seperatly, but only if you look it up for a 90-91 Civic 4-dr. The wagon cable (which included the box) is dicontinued.

My passenger side wont go back. I manually put it back opened the door and went to open position. I checked the fuses on batt. and replaced them. Drivers side works but not pass. Checked the wires for power and they get power. Checked under the seats and all is connected. I am all out of options someone please help me. Thanks. Fixed...Turns out if you pull the hazard fuse under the hood it all goes away..

if i cut the wire behind the seatbelt light on the dash will it quit beeping i checked both fuses and both seatbels work great i dont understand why it beeps still
  • my driver side seat belt motor is fried (one towards the back of the car) and I tried what the OP did with the inline fuses but I am still getting the seat belt beeping noise. Any other ideas on what to do?
  • just to give a heads up on my wagon and maybe it can help someone else. I took my wagon to a buddy of mine who has a wagon and had to do the same thing. Since my motor was fried all he did was crank the seat belt back towards the rear of the car (just like once you get in and shut the door it moves into place). You can do this with a hex wrench (not sure what size). Once you move it into place just disengage the front motor by unclipping the switch but keep the rear motor switch intact (this will stop the seat belt from moving toward the front when you open the door). I have to unbuckle the top seatbelt everytime but it stopped my beeping noise...hope I made sense
