Last time I was at the yard I picked up a dual map light unit from a DA teg' (anyone see my teg' theme going here?)
Anyway, here we go.
Sweet haircut and sweet watchband, I know...
A little 12v tapsy from the dome light and corresponding ground spot never hurt nobody
Not shown: I drilled two small holes and used some hardware to attach the plate through the headliner.
Connect the wires you just ran from the dome light (make sure you label them in some way).
Push it back in, secure your hardware (I used machine screws/nuts/washers) and you can now see without having to do the reach around and flip the dome light whilst squinting.
Something also not mentioned is how awesomely this thing fits, too many parts were just meant to be between our cars and Integras. Another thing, for those that have pulled their headliner before will know this, there is the foam block directly above where I installed the map lights. That block is specifically there in order to "prevent" one from crushing in the bulge in the headliner. Make sure you put it back after the install because it helps provide a backing against the roof and secure the map lights.
Enjoy!

I've been throwing around the idea of using some LED's. You have any pics? Links or info on bulb type? It'd be nice at least for the map lights since they actually have a funneled piece of plastic that directs the light, so if I install LED's in there it shouldn't glare all over the interior and blind anyone at night.
quick, plain & simple
ow, and nice too
: )

Hell ya, nice work! Ive got one of those setups in my garage. Had no idea it would fit so well, thanks for the heads up!
I'm running these in my wife's T&C and the Durango http://www.hidoutlet.ca/leddomelight_js.htm they work really well and come with multiple bulb adapters to fit pretty much any bulb out there.. I've come across another type that runs 2 SMT led's and they are as bright as the 9 pack.. and 1/4 the cost.. I'll take some pics of them and some installed
Nice work, I may have to consider this one...
Funny you mention that! After I installed the Integra suspension and showed her, she was like "cool..." with the whole "you just spent MORE money on that thing" undertone, lol. I showed her the map lights and she was like "that is awesome!".
Also, in case anyone is doing this the white/blue wire is the 12V source. The Red is for the door switch activation; run the white/blue to the white/blue on the teg unit and you will have your constant 12V.

definately will have to look into getting one of these when the time comes (when I find a damn wagon)
I wonder ... did DAs come with tan interiors? I don't want a gray light on a tan headliner.
now, it was originally bolted to the Teg via a plate that was part of the sunroof. now, obviously we dont have this plate. so my question is- and i read through but couldnt really tell- how is this thing bolt/mounted/screwed to the car?
I used very small - maybe m6 or so - machine screws with washers for the holes I drilled along the edges of the plastic (the part that is paired with the headliner obviously). For the backing I used the nuts paired with fender-style washers that covered a large enough surface area on the back to provide stability. Just junk I had in my misc. hardware container.
Skinny's idea would work great as well. There is no bracketry mounted to the roof skin like there are in Integras so we are forced to come up with our own solution.
i guess i should get some pics of it....
quezzy...mayyybee it is glue gunnable ?
It may be, but making some hardware suffice is a much more efficient way of doing it for 1 main reason: the removal. Glue gun + future headliner removal or bulb change make for much more of a pain indabutt.
