MikeySpec's new wagon/Sanjiyan69's old wagon

I didnt take any pictures of it myself when i brought it home. Here are a couple pictures that i stole from Wayne(Sanjiyan69 on the forums). He cut me a great deal on the car and i promised him it was going into good hands. Here are some shots of it from Wayne when he sold it to me a week ago. I started working on some little stuff here and there.

I reconditioned the whole interior, its in much better shape now. I also resprayed all the moldings that were in primer or faded real bad. The rear bumper got touched up at the same time. The old suspension was blown in the front so i stole the PIC coilovers off of my other EF for the time being. Next is a tune up, obd1 conversion, eCtuned p28, touch up the front bumper and side skirts, and find a front lip. Then i'll be happy for the time being.

Welcome! Clean wagon. Good job so far!
  • Hey welcome! How hard was it to re-paint the trim around the windows? I need to do that but it just seems like a PITA!!
  • Masking everything off took forever. I think i spent at least a day masking stuff off and prepping the trims.
  • Damn I knew it. I'm not in for that just yet.
  • Lookin good! Nice garage to be workin in...

    looks sick.
how you like the PIC's on there?
  • I've only test driven it short distances since it has a bad upper balljoint and bad inner tie rod. So far it feels good, comfortable and turn in feels like any other EF model on PIC's(good). Anything past turn in feels iffy and loose. I'd guess its the weird suspension geometry for the rear. Its something i'm going to look into because i really want to track this turd.

looks mucho clean; hit that front bumper with a fresh coat of black...

    love it...
  • looks real good... keep us updated!!
  • My buddy is digging around in his pile of junk in the garage for an 89 civic si lip. If he has it i'm going to go ahead and touch up the front bumper and side skirts.

Looks Good. Keep The Updates Coming.
  • Decided while i had some down time at work i would work on a power check and small tune up.

The blue line is what we started with and the red line is what we ended up with. To acheive the power we changed out the intake tube to a generic 3 inch I.D. intake for a 92-95 civic and found more power on top of that with a velocity stack. From there we added new spark plug wires and moved the distributor around until we found a little bit of power. It doesnt really make much for power but it smoothened out by a drastic difference in both partial throttle and full throttle. Response is through the roof. But its still a turd. Mad vtak.

Before leaving the office i decided to weigh the car while i was warming up my car for the drive home. I've been trying to find info on how much one of these wagons weigh, and havent come up with anything.

2350 with full interior and a full tank of gas. B16 engine'd with no a/c.

I've got some more work i'll be doing on it in the next week or so. I've got to replace an inner tie rod and upper ball joint before i start driving it long distances.
  • Wow! That's a lot more than I thought a full interior wagon would be. I've done some weight reduction on mine, stripped the back seats out, along with the carpet, jack and tools, spare tire and spare tire cover, taken out all the OEM seatbelts and motors, etc..., changed the front seats to some lightweight race seats and mounts with some 2" Sparco 4 point belts, but it still has a B20 with 92 GSR tranny in it, and it weighs 2,180 with full fuel. I've still got a long way to go too. I want it down to 2,100 before I start the drivetrain mods I'm planning.
  • I wondered what my Aguzze's would look like on my blue wagon...now I know. I guess they're going on there instead of on my Si :D

What did you end up using for front seats, and is the seating position still like a schoolbus? Did you go custom on the seat mounts as well? I'm so used to mega light FF honda's and this will be a tank compared to all the other 88-91 models that i've owned. This thing almost weighs as much as my old integra sedans. For reference a 1996 integra RS with a k20, full interior(front recaro speeds), A/C, power steering and a full tank of gas is 2440. For drag racing reference it needed 228whp to go 13.0@106 on drag radials. I'm looking to do some major engine work to this wagon soon....i'm just waiting for the pieces to fall in place.

If you ever want to sell those wheels give me a holler. The sterns on the wagon are brand new. I have 2 other sets as well. One in 16 which i usually use for daily driving, and a set of white 15's that i use for track. I love these wheels.

I love mine too. I've had 2 sets, both which I bought new. This set has some sentimental value to me so I don't think I'll sell them. I would love to find a set in 16" though, those weren't as popular so you don't see them for sale these days.
  • As a matter of fact i usually daily drive my cars on the 16's. I'll be throwing them on shortly and i'll get some pics up when i do. Aguzze's for life!

I'm using sidemounts from Sparco to mount a Tom Motorsport Carbon Recaro N1 replica on the driver's side, and I currently have a Sparco Pro2000 on the passenger side. I'll be mounting another Tom Motorsport carbon seat on the passenger side soon. I mounted them both without sliders to get the height down. I'd have to say I'm sitting about 4-5" lower than the OEM Wagon seats. I made some plates/brackets to attach the side mounts to the OEM mounting points in the chassis. This is a requirement of the SCCA Solo II rules that I race under. I calculate that I lost about 40lbs of weight by changing the seats. The OEM seats with sliders and the inner seatbelt buckle assembly were 38 lbs each. My Tom Motorsport seats are just under 12 lbs each, and the mounting adds another 4-5 lbs per side.

Fresh Si seats. I enjoy them much better than the oem set.

89 Civic Si lip, touched up front bumper and filler, and cleaned up the bumper lens.
  • Wow, that is clean! great job. did you repaint the car?
j/w how much work was it to do the swap? did you keep the A/C?
    Thanks,
    William
  • I bought the car resprayed. Its a maaco generic paint job that gets the job done. I'm happy with it. The swap was also previously there when i bought the car. Its a basic b16 swap into a dpfi ef chasis, everything works out the same.
