  • You can put a single head on the DOHC ZC but it takes some machining because a couple of the head bolts are off just enough to ruin things. It's really not worth it, lots of trial and error. And the intake mani from a D16A6/A1/Z6/Y8 will fit. The only thing different on the DOHC ZC head(besides the DOHC and head bolt alignment) is the exhaust ports are shifted slightly so if you use a stock D-series manifold it will have to be ported a bit.
  • yeah thanks for the help
  • If memory serves me right, the intake ports are a little off as well. The JRSC kits for the SOHC D series motors needed a small adapter plate to re-direct the runners slightly when using them with the DOHC ZC heads.

why not just buy a SOHC ZC and put DOHC ZC pistons and LS RODS regrind the cam and use a JRSC and you will have some power
  • Another little power upgrade if you have a D16A6 is to swap in a SOHC ZC cam. It's a little more aggressive and doesn't need very much work to do.
  • What kind of work do you have to do to put in a zc cam into a a6 head? I'm interested :D

All you have to do is find a SOHC ZC cam, its just like putting a cam in the D16A6 head. SOHC ZC is a little more aggresive cam.
  • Just to clarify they are talking about putting the SOHC ZC non-VTEC cam into the D16A6.
