Body Shop Blues

I'm a newbie, and happily sent my 1991 2wd Civic Wagon to a body shop to have door dings fixed and a dented hood replaced. I went over to check on the car, and found it parked under a lift, with another car above it. The transmission fluid from the car parked above has leaked onto my car's roof, so much so, that it has bled under the windshield gasket and migrated to the plates around the hood hinges. The guy mopped up the fluid, and put a degreaser around the windshield gasket.

I'm wondering if the car will be ok to repaint after he washes off the degreaser, or if he needs to take out the windshield and remove the gasket to get all of this sh-t out of there. Anybody have any experience in this area?

You know, it's really a bummer when you expect to do something that will actually improve your car, and sh-t like this happens.

how much fluid got under the gasket? it would prolly be safer to go ahead and have the windshield removed and reglued.... if the fluid could leak under just like that then its prolly best to replace anyways... of course have the shop pay for everything... dumbasses.
  • It will be ok as long as it is washed off good.. I wouldn't remove the windsheild.. Just wash it really good with a de-greaser, then run over it with a wax/grease remover..

If it is at a body shop I hope they would know how to fix it.

THAT is great news! Thanks! Now I'm looking for A/C and will read previous posts to find out if the condenser from a 1990-91 sedan will fit the wagon.

It almost seemed like maybe you were asking if the condenser fits but not really so you don't have someone saying, " look it up you noob." LOL

Yep, it's exactly like that! lol

My son-in-law is a certified Honda mechanic, with his own shop, who went to a yard to pull some parts this morning for other customers. He wanted me to check on A/C for my wagon, since I reminded him that I wanted him to put one in for me. He's busy, which is great, and so my research begins.
