hatch movement

my hatch doesn't seem to close tightly, meaning it closes but there is still movement, i adjusted the latch and it got better but there is still about a 1/4 in movement, anyone know how to fix this or is it normal and just live with it.

thanks.

those ubber stopper things at the bottom corners can be adjusted in or out by turning them. adjust them out. this way they hit against the body and have a tighter contact.
  • that will solve the movement, but won't setting them further out push my hatch out the same distance so it isn't flush any more?

Often its because the latch itself wears with general usage. Take a look at the metal part of the latch and see how much it's worn. Now think about the fact that the part that grips that latch is made of plastic.. ;) The gripper bit wears out over a period of time basically.

My hatch rattled when I first got the car, I ran duct tape around it, no more rattles, only been a week though.

Almost 22 months my friend.... I think this is a record for old threads, that didn't need to get bumped lol
