Pioneer built speakers with Honda part number

I found a wrecked 90/91 2WD auto in my local junkyard. It had speaker pods in the back which I grabbed (with brackets) of course.

Also, it had a set of separates mounted in the front doors. I grabbed these, too. They are Pioneer 6.5 in the standard location, with a surface mount tweeter on the door. Well, the woofer cones say Pioneer on them, but they have a Honda part number on the back.

I assume these were a dealer upgrade? Anybody know anything about them?

Neat find, so I put them in. However, one of the woofers is crap so they are temporary...

Honda must have subbed out thier stereo components to Pioneer in the late 80's early 90's cause my Integras stock stereo was a Pioneer deck. The car also had Pioneer speakers. Along with quite a few other Accords and Civics that I have rummaged through at the slavage yards.

I asked my local stereo shop about it and they told me that Alpine has the contract now. But this was back in 95-96. So who knows who has it now.
