(now i know)how to discharge the ac. thanks

i'm pulling the engine out of my 88 and it looks like i need to remove some hoses from the ac to get it free. checked the manual and it said "WARNING!! HIGH PRESSURE!! have a pro dishcarge the ac before unbolting anything!!!!"

can anyone tell me how to do this safely? i kinda enjoy life.

thanks

Its not enviromentally safe to discharge just any where but if you do, try to freeze stuff, ITS REAL COOL!

i'm just looking for a way to do it SAFELY. is there a bolt or release valve somewhere? has anyone else done this while pulling their engine?

i know it's probably not the best eco move, but like i said, it can't move anywhere and it has to be done.

    any help?

There should be a valve like on a bike tube somewhere on the charge lines, just remove the valve or depress it.
  • Find yourself any pdf concerning, car brand type year ...

somewhere behind the battery in that section, in my eurocar that is ...
  • Was your AC working when you started this project?

On other cars, I've simply unbolted the compressor from the block without disconnecting lines and set it aside while yanking the engine.

Otherwise, just follow the lines going into the evaporator - there's a shraeder valve on one. Just let it out like letting air out of a tire. Wear gloves and goggles if you're worried.

I'm no pro so my advice may suck = try at your own risk

the ac was working fine. the car was wrecked and so i'm pulling the engine and everything else i can salvage.

i'm going to try to leave the compressor connected and just remove the hoses from the firewall if i can.

    thanks for the tips
