Hail damage...

A wagon I'm thinking about picking up has hail damage. Don't know how bad it is, but other than that it looks very clean for a decent price. I remember hearing that body shops can fix it pretty easily with a Dentless Paint Repair. Don't know how much it costs though or if it's something I could tackle on my own. Anyone have any experience with something like that?

Before you get scared away by the "as seen on TV" gimicky stuff, let me tell you - it works! My old motorcycle had a dented gas tank. Obviously I didn't want to drill holes in it to pull the dent. People on the Suzuki GS forum suggested using one of these. I figured what the hell and tried it. I never put the detail work into getting it perfect, but it pulled a dent out of my tank much bigger than hail would leave.
In fact, I think this would work even better on hail dents than it did on my bike. Less curves, and the dents are smaller.
the body looked like it was in pretty good condition, the paint was crap.
it was also an automatic (i recall you wanting a 5 speed)
Other then the hail damage, it looks exactly like what I'm looking for, plus a decent price. Think this looks like a major undertaking?
if i were you i'd attack it with Bondo then just have the roof painted and the get a new hood (and paint it as well)
good price man, the only thing with bondoing it all up would be in order for the bondo to really hold good you'd need to drill a few holes here and there for it to really grip to. also, if someone was to hit your roof from the inside say your kids if you have them or if someones head hit it. the bondo would most likely crack.
you'd be better off finding another roof (if they're replaceable) or cutting it out and welding in new metal.
goodluck dude.
Bondo is all about getting your chemical reactions correct.. I mix a little extra hardener in there so It gets nice and hard.. I've had bondo on my shaved handles and in the front of my hood where it was mashed in for years, and have experienced no cracking..
What I would use is a hole less pulling gun.. We have one at school, I can't think of the name of it, but it welds a copper stud to the metal then you take a slide hammer and tap it till it's gone..
That would be the right way of doing it..
Bring her to where I go to school and donate it as a project.. lol
listen to kahuna, he is the bondo/bodywork guru 8)
