HERE I AM!! w/PICS

New Wagonist
What's up Wagoneers!
My name's Billy.. I recently sold my Sil40 to buy some Camera equipment.. Can't live without a car, so.. In these days of rising gas prices, I figured I'd get fuel friendly Honda!
So.. For $500 I picked up an 89 Wagon. Not a bad price, huh? The car runs great.. Needs a new head and valve gaskets.. and a new clutch.. Other than that, it's peachy!
I decided to go with the wagon for a few reasons.. First off, it's rare.. I can drive a Honda, and still separate myself from the crowd.. Second, (and I'm assuming) it's less likely to get stolen.. And Third, these little cars are super roomy!!
I couldn't be happier with the Wagon.. However, It looks kinda funny stock.. I have big plans for the Wagon.. But I'm definitely not throwing a lot of money at it!! SHiiiit!! It only cost 500 bucks!
My goal is to spend under $1000 (tax-return woo-hoo!)
Here's what I have in mind(so far):
1) Head/Valve Cover Gaskets
2) Clutch
3) Suspension.. Camber kit.. Struts/Coil Over Sleeve
4) Wheels.. LSmesh or FatFives or idk? (ex. studs & spacers?)
5) Bodywork & Paint
After this is complete I'll look into the Rear Sway Bar mod..
In most cases, this would cost well over $1000.. But I'm sure I can find the parts for cheap.. And I'll be doing the work myself.. That should save some cash!!
OH and fyi, I'm not Mexican.. I bought the car on Cinco De Mayo (That's the 5th of De Mayo for those who are spanishly challenged).. But that's not to say I have anything against Mexicans, Hispanics or Spanish Americans or whatever they like to call themselves.. But yeah, anyways I've named my car The Civic De Mayo ..
Thanks for reading.. I'm glad to finally introduce myself. I plan on posting all the work I do as well as how much I've spent.. It should be fun!!

Don't think wagons are less likely to get stolen, though.
That's "Welcome" (for those who are Spanishly challenged). LOL
I'm sure you will have fun making the wagon your own!!
My wagon is the first car I feel comfortable doing "stuff" to so I understand your feeling/need to customize.
We all look forward to more pics.
Looks good man.
No kiddin. I was out lookin at an 89 rtawd the other day in "ok" shape for $400. It looked more like swiss cheese! LMAO! In that kinda shape they would want a couple grand up here. Lucky bastards!
So here goes my attempt to save face.. I've been fairly busy the last couple years. Enrolled in college, still shooting photos, yada yada..
Still got the wagon. Still love it. Here's what I've done so far:
Banged out all the lil' dents
Screwed the rear bumper back to the car
Replaced Axles
Replaced the window trim
Replaced the rear carpet
Replaced antenna
Head gasket
Painted wiper arms black
Sprayed the bumper signals orange
Integra front/rear lip
Rear mudflaps
Lowered on KYB GR2, unknown coilover sleeves, Ractive springs
"progressive(?)" rims
CRX seats (that was a bitch)
After that I swapped in a replacement d15.. got a set of XXR 002 zero offset.. cheap stick-on window visors (which I will be taking off soon)..
Future plans:
I'd like to go lower
Probably have to pull the fenders out a bit
My hood is extra faded, so I was considering going Rust Hood (I think it would contrast nicely with my faded paint)
If not or after, body work/paint(?)
More power (B16 maybe)
Oh - I'd love to find a bullbar. That shii looks awesome!
So between school and extracurriculars, that's what I've been up to.. I'll try to keep my progress current from now on.. Thanks to everybody on HCW for the inspiration. And thanks you for stopping by.

The first wheels you had on it were awesome, they really fit the wagon era specific.
Good luck with everything!
I found the trim at a junkyard and just replaced it.. There might be some DIY way of "fixing" the ones you have.. Try searching. God knows, everyone here has tried just about everything!
My buddy needed tires really bad.. so I let him use those wheels.. I'll let you know when I get them back. I'm probably not going to be using them.
Keep up the work man!
Yessir.. You must be the dude that showed up after I left.. That wagon was BEAT!! But, I low balled and bought it anyway for the engine. ..and the Tokico Blues - Which I f*cked up when trying to swapped them (clamped too low on the rod) .. ended up blowing out the seals on two of them :x ..so it ended up being a loss.. The motor is good tho.. But, for the amount I spent, I probably could have swapped in a B16.. Live and learn.
No spacers.. The wheels are 15"x8" with 0-offset.. The offset (and width*) determines whether or not they "stick out".. I got the mud flaps from the junkyard. They are not the wagon flaps tho.. The wagon flaps are longer (taller) than these.. I think these came off an older civic sedan or an accord..
I'm happy with how it turned out.. The fitment is nice and wheels don't rub.. However, the rears are maxed out, and I'd like them to be slightly lower.. and my fenders are looking a bit haggard from all the rolling/pulling. Probably need to do some bodywork soon.
I also tried on some new wheels.. I was hoping to get some opinions on them.. Probably going to sell which ever set I don't keep.
xxr 513 vs. 002
513's...v
002's...v
I'm leaning towards the 513's.. I am considering painting them solid color (no polished lip).. I figure that would be easiest to accomplish with the 513's since they are one-piece.. Plus the bigger spokes cover my little brakes What do you guys think?
I also got some new outer tie-rod ends that need to be installed.. Then an alignment.
*** And please, no sportmax comments.. I'll get better wheels someday. ***
(get something other than sportmax. all wagons have them)
keep up the good work.
