what else do you plan on doing to it?
and i love the color btw.
I've got a few vinyl decals too, but not sure how dedicated i am to them yet.
Haydz,
nope....... my trust Rusty is long gone. I did miss it this last winter though. That RT4WD can't be beat for fun in the white stuff.
This USED to be my white DX that i picked up from Kentucky. It had accumulated a little rust along the bottom of 2 doors and a quarter sized spot on a back wheel well. My plans were to give it the paint job it deserved from the time i bought it since it was so clean.
Call it Old School nostalgia
She's a beaut !!!
And I love that huge Honda sticker on the gyro. LOL
closer to the front, it looks a bit un even with the rest..
it might just be my eyes though.
edit: what rims are those? and what size are they?
the rims are Koenig Heliums. 15 inchers.
Like most of my other choices, i've gone with subtle and understated. I didn't want anything bigger than 15", i just wanted to fill up the wheel wells a little more than stock and add a little pizzazz.
in case i forgot to mention, the new color is a Stock Volkswagen color
called Graphite Blue.
The pictures really don't do it justice. Anyone with this color VW can tell you how the color seems to change depending on the lighting and the whether. Sometimes it looks like Charcoal Grey, sometimes it shows the blue content, and other times it almost has a Purple tinge to it. Very weird but cool at the same time.
along the same lines, if ANYONE is in need of a reliable and decently priced paint job in the Wisconsin area, hook up with me and i will get you in contact with the guy who did my paint job. I can't praise him enough for how picky and meticulous he was. He kept going on and on how he wanted to get the doors as smooth as he could while i was just saying "Hey, i'm not that picky, i just want it to look nicer than it used to"
Once i get it washed real good and waxed i'll throw up some more pix that show his attention to detail down the sides.
Thanks for noticing it too, Lalunette! The mrs wanted to trade in the Pizza sticker for the Manufacturer's ID, oh well. I think it still looks pretty sharp and it's as fun as ever to lean around corners!
then notice how this side isn't like that
this is drving me insane. WHERE IS THAT STICKER? i've looked for 20 minutes.
still the stock suspension? sorry for posting so much in your thread
But cool how you photo-edited those pix. don't worry about your post count either.
i had newer Monroe shocks put in last year. I also had lowering sport springs in momentarily that came with the new rims, but once i saw just how low the car sat and the mudflaps started scraping i decided they weren't for me. It's not like Hondas of this era need to be any closer to the ground anyway, right?
the sticker Lalu's talking about is on the storage box on the backside of my Gyro scooter in Pic4. I just put those on last fall to replace the original Domino's looking Delivery sticker that came on it after my purchase off of Ebay. He drove it while visiting the US not all that long ago......sorry for the confusion.
no need to apologize, i didn't even see the scooter til you pointed it out, ha. how much money did you invest in the restoration process? and if you had to replace the fenders how much were they? thats what i really need is fenders (if you've seen my car in the members ride section you'd understand)
How about now?..............
ha ha
In total, i think i escaped for less than $1500. But i did get a really fair deal from my painter. I built a paint booth in my garage on the cheap and alot of the work was done by me and the wife.
I didn't need fenders either. I picked the car up in Kentucky originally so there wasn't all that much rot to deal with. My biggest part replacement was door clips. Pretty sure somebody here posted a link to find those fenders at a decent price. I agree with you that you're gonna be further ahead to just replace them than even try to make them look presentable.
Good luck and if you need any advice, don't hesitate to ask. There's always plenty of folks here with experience
and yeah, all i really need is a new back window (i'd be better off buying a rear hatch with glass so i can save myself some labor $)
2 new fenders and the both sides trim. if i can find a parts car, respraying the trim isn't shit, ya know? and like martin said (wagodizzle) i can save the clips by just removing the door panel and very carefully pinching them together and removing them.
hopefully, i can get this parts car about a mile from me. they barely speak english so it's hard to negogate anything to them. i'm going by there house tomorrow.
imo, you have the cleanest wagon on the site, hows the interior?
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/aut ... ONT+FENDER
i posted this link so you could see what 2 new fenders would run you.
you missed my parts bin by a year, i sold off everything i didn't need to other forum members.......including fenders, doors and yes.....a rear hatch with glass.
I think you'll find taking apart these cars is pretty easy, but alot of the plastics clips tend to break because they get so darn brittle after 20 years. Majestichonda can hook you up with anything that breaks though.
My interior is actually pretty darn nice too. It's got one crack on the plastic piece that is at the bottom of the windshield and a small tear about a half inch long on top of the rear left door panel. A little super glue would take care of both of those, but i haven't been that picky. Maybe with the new paint, i'll decide to be.
nice interiors ftw!
I know some of you are probably sick of seeing this car, but i'm still giddy with the end results.
Here's just a few more pix that were taken today after the wife watched and waxed it. you can really see what a great job the painter did in making sure the doors and side panels were as smooth as could be.
even the roof rails we filled in turned out pretty nice !
And I'm the proud new owner of that rear hatch with glass !!!! :P :P :P :P
Okay, I haven't installed it yet... but that's beside the point. LOL
Looks great 8)
Here's those engine pics you asked for Mike....... nothing out of the ordinary but for the new wires and distributor cap
Anybody within driving distance of Green bay in need of a good quality paint job, don't hesitate to get ahold of me. I'll pass along your info to my source.
YEAH BOI! get it right, then post more pics of it
go to the car wash and use the degreaser let it set in for about 5 minutes then use the high pressure spray and it'll look fly!
