Electric Load Sensor?

Ok, well I keep getting ECU codes.. It's two long flashes.

I thought it was the secondary 02 Sensor, but I changed it with a new one and it still comes back..

According to these charts its a electric load sensor:

Where is this thing located? Whatever it is it is making my car bog and such.. Could it be a bad alt.. Maybe locking up and stuff? Cause my lights are dimming really bad when I let off the gas and I can be going down the road sometimes with my radio on like 20 and my lights will dim with it..

So what the hell?

  • IIRC it's in the engine bay fusebox.

Ok, so how do I go about fixing that?

My car, when it gets warm, runs then cuts off if i don't keep the gas going. it misses, boggs down, and cuts off. Man ..I changed batt, wires, alt, dist, and wires...The ELD is my next thing.... Im going in the morning to the junkyard.
  • Maybe I need one too. When I touch the brakes the lights flicker a bit and when I let it drop to idle it dims a little sometimes. Not unsafe or extremely bad, just kind of annoying.

Went to autozone and had it tested.. Turns out that the alt was bad.. It was fine on idle with everything turned off.. But as soon as I turned on the radio and HIDs, he said it could charge as fast as it was draining...

So I bought a high output 130 amp alternator.. I figured 60 amps more couldn't hurt.. lol

i've had my ECU throwing an ELD code for about 4 years now with no adverse effects.

It sounds stupid i know but this can also be a loose battery terminal. I had a loose terminal once and the inertia would make it disconnect ever so much and the electrics would switch off and back on again.

9 out of 10 it is a bad ground. Double check your grounds. My ELD nightmare turned out to be I didn't have a transmission to body to battery. I was skipping the tranny - body and going directly tranny to battery.

I had the same thing goin on with my 91 Jetta coupe. After running a ground strap from the battery directly to the frame, everything works great.
