Rear Window Wiper

The rear wiper on my 89 RT4WD wagon is lame. The arm apparently is too weak to push the wiper blade down flush to the glass, so it is bowed out and only makes contact near the ends of the blade, leaving the area covered by the middle of the blade untouched. Do I just need a new blade or is there an issue with the spring in the arm mechanism? Does anyone know how to fix this?

its prolly the spring is very rusted, thus it lost its "strength." your best bet would be to get a new one from a junkyard or something...

if you want i could check my local yard.. wiper arms are about $8 or $9 over there.

spring and possible bent arm, try bending the arm and if that doesn't help it's the spring.

Another bent arm testimony: in an attempt to fix rattles I bent the arm down this weekend... Now the end of the blade is making much better contact with the glass, although the rattle(s) from the hatch are still there. :(

the hatch rattles dont get to do with the wiper arm :P to fix the hatch rattle you have to unscrew those rubber stoppers on the hatch, so that there is a more force on the hatch when its closed.
