(will ef)Armrest question(fit?...mostly YES)

So I've seen a few posts saying an armrest from a EF won't fit unless it was made for a wagon. I just wanted to hear some truth so I can know whether or not to get the one from my friends old hatchback. Thanks guys.

He lives too far to make the trip for no reason or I would. :(

JDMshuttle said they will fit. you'll prolly have to take out the front seats to screw the thing in... but yeah.

I don't know all the jargon yet. EF means what? JDM is Japanese Domestic Market, right? But what does that mean?
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
EF = 4th gen civic chassis code
EE = 4th gen WAGON chassis code, though sometimes they are called EF even though this isnt really correct

you were right about JDM, it basically means that it is different so people want it ;)

So are EF wagons 88-91, or what? Where is this stuff documented?
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
    yeah, "EF" wagons are 1988-1991...

like i said, they are actually EE wagons.

    EE2 = USDM 2WD wagon
    EE4 = USDM 4WD wagon
    EY3 = USDM Wagovan

USDM = United States Domestic Market..

all this is under "specifications" on our website ;)

Wagons and wagovans were both made at the same time? What was the diff between them?

EF is correct, if the Wagon is JDM or EDM. Only the USDMs are EE as far as i know.

cogito, take a look at this page: http://www.hondacivicwagon.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=3394
  • My wagon is a EE4.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
only the JDM wagon is EF and EY ;)

the 4th gen Wagovan was made the same time as the 4th gen DX wagon, but only years 88-89 ;)
  • HaydzHaydz Moderator
EDM Beagles were EFs as far as i know.

Ragen, you need to add the EDM info into that link that i posted. ;)

:D FALSE :) They will fit in ur Wgn.This misconception came about cause I believe it doesn't fit in the Wgn with the AUTO BELTs in later years.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
it still fits with the autobelts...

at least so said JDMshuttle. i'm gonna try it soon though. once i get a job.

BRAND NEW armrests are $47 from Honda. no reason for that $200 BS from ebay, talking about "rare items" ;)

Seriously, though, I like having an armrest in my cars. If this one is so cheap, and will bolt right in, I'd love to see a pic to see if it would be useful to me...
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
send me $47 and i'll get you as many pics as your heart desires
  • So, I just got done looking for one on hondaautomotiveparts.com and couldn't find it. Anyone got a link or something...
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
    check:

    hondapartsdeals.com

    go under:

    -Parts

    -Civic Hatchback 3D

    -Components

    -Accessories

    -Interior

    -voila, parts galore.

oh snap, i just gave away my "secret".. damnit :x
  • Well, I could have looked there but I was too lazy. 8) 8) Thanks for the info.
  • Still can't find it. All I have found is a longer center console (wraps around the shifter as well) and the shorter center console. I went under 89 and 91 3D SI > Interior > Console........What am I doing wrong?
  • White&NerdyWhite&Nerdy Senior Wagonist
The longer center console is the Si part. One piece that swoops down around the shifter. The armrest is what I presume you're looking for, and it's labelled as such on the site. $47, just like wagodizzle said (except for blue, that's something like $10 more).

i would go under the DX model...

did you click on the ACCESSORIES button?

i've only seen the blue and black on that site...

    blue is $47

    black is $49 or something...

:? That price & part number seems FUNNY.

Why don't one of you order the armrest & console to see what you get.The part number might be the site's own #.It might also b just the armrest W/O the cvr or brkts

hardware and the hinge is sold seperately.

i would assume if the product reads "armrest" that it would be the complete unit?

    08U90-SH0-130 001 ARMREST Blue 1 $47.23

    08U90-SH0-100R1 001A HARDWARE KIT, ARMREST - 1 $5.83

    08147-SE35004 001B HINGE - 1 $1.84
  • Thanks. I was just looking in the wrong place.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
get it, and let me know if its the complete unit :D

Just to be clear this will NOT fit in the 90-91 wagons with the auto seat belts, right?
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
here is a picture of one in an 88-89 wagon... from this pic it seems that you could fit the armrest WITH the 90-91 wagons.

like i said before... JDMshuttle claims that they will fit on the 90-91 wagons with autobelts.

Dont see how that will fit 90-91 with the auto seatbelts.

I found one exactly like this in black in a 92 Integra in the junkyard. The Teg had auto seat belts...It works in our 90-91 wagons as well with auto belts. I have to paint it to match my interior. Must have bin an option for DA Integras. Its rare. Can anyone get a part num?

    53.jpg
I'll post pics when its mounted.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
i was doing some research on this.. and in this picture you can see the difference between an 88-89 center console (lower image, #8 ) and the 90-91 center console (top, part #9)

it seems that they extrended part #9 for the autobelts, thats why its a different style.

    2.gif

    NOW:

here you can see the 88-91 Civic Hatchback center console (part #11), which bears a very close resemblence to the 88-89 Wagon.

    3.gif

so basically, i guess for us with the Auto-belts (90-91) we are screwed. plain and simple.

i was looking for the teggy part, but cant find it anywhere :? :x
