mpfi quickie...

I know it's been discussed at length, and I've searched and read a bunch of how-tos. I think I've accumulated enough parts to go ahead and do it.

How about a link to your favorite tutorial? I know some I've seen are better than others, what's the favorite?
The only method I'm sure I don't want to follow is the dizzleswap...don't wanna be down that long

and while I'm at it, do I have all the parts?

complete intake with all sensors/wiring/injectors from '89 Si, with throttle cable
    pm6 ecu from '90 EX
    d16a6 dist from EX
    2 resistor boxes
    EX tranny
    Si tranny

Do I need cam/head?(from d16) Seems I've read both ways.

I thought the effin article was the one I wanted, but I can't find it now.

actually, that was the easiest and made the most sense. it was my own stupid fault, i simply plugged two wires backwards near the ECU.. anyways. if you want i could find the link to it.

all you need is the conmplete intake with acc., ecu, dizzy, and ONE resistor box. you do not need to change the cam or anything.

    yes, please.

I know I only need 1 resistor, just have accumulated 2

cam: I know I don't HAVE to swap it, but I'm half-remembering (common at my advanced age) an article including cam swap...will d16a6 cam fit?
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
it will fit, but for the 1 HP increase, its prolly not worth it...

oh, another question: will EACV from dpfi cross over to mpfi? The intake I got is missing it.

    yes it will.

i might mention the reason i got confused about my wiring was because i HAD a wire a pin B10 (which serves no function). the instructions said i prolly wont, but i did so anyways i over looked it and put it into B9's empty spot. so my tip for you is, always always look at the pin numbers before you do anything.

if you wanna know what the different wires are actually for, then look at this link:

Thanks. That's the only one I've been able to find, but I'm a compu-dummy.

I'm glad the valve will cross, that thing is pricey!
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
oy dude, ok i got the IAT sensor confused with the EACV... and err i dont think they will cross.

i have an extra though. you can have it.

is it ok to link to H-T here? There's a great thread on mpfi swap with lots of links, pictures, etc, there's just so much traffic there it gets buried.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
i dont see why it would be bad...

My opinion, link to HT would be fine. But don't link those @$$clowns back over here.

I agree. Quite a different environment. Anyway, I finally found that thread again. If one of you wizards could condense the good stuff out of here?

There was some info that i hadn't found, the kind of stuff I was looking for when i started this thread. I'm surprised the guy got this much help- as I searched for keywords, more often than not it'd deadend at some kid telling the asker to go search :?
