trip meter help

alrite well. for some reason my trip meter goes up to 9.9 miles and just stops. it wont flip to 10. it tries to. like i can see it like tryin to go but it wont. its been on 9.9 miles for like the past month. ive tried pushin the button a bunch and tryin to get it to work. and for the past month just lettin it like try to flip over and it hasnt yet? any body have any ideas on what i could do?

    Take apart the speedo and look for the little post which will be floating around having snapped off the wheel.
    Or perhaps they need aligning.

    Cluster out and apart tho for sure.
