Water In Hatch

Today i was driving on one of my twisty roads after work and i heard a sloshing sound. i popped my back hatch and lift my spare tire mat to find about 3 inches of water back there!!! Where did this all come from because i know the car wash i got today didnt put all that water there. There is no way it could have been there all winter because it would have turned to ice and i would have notice all that ice back there cause that would be a hell of a lot of ice for 3 inches of water. does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it i just put new seals in my tail lights when i got it. could it be the big seal for the hatch. someone help.

Tail light gaskets often are the cause of this issue.

    Moved to correct sub-forum.
  • I would guess taillight gaskets too. I just removed my taillights and I think I could have planted a tree in there with all the dirt that was stuck in it.
  • Remove the foam fromthe car and put them into the sink.
    Add washing up liquid.
    Beckon the wife.*
    Wash, scrub, soak.
    Rinse.
    Dry.
    Thanks to the wife.*
    Replace.
Normally I add some simple bathroom sealant from a caulking gun to go around both sides of the foam in the groove which has formed due to them being on the car and pressed by the light clusters.

    * optional steps. :lol:

One of my seals was folded over at the corner and that is prolly y. thanks again for the help guys. Im still amazed that all that water was in there and i never noticed it when it was all ice. Im gunna tear my trunk apart tomorrow to make sure there isnt any damage from the water anywhere.

you can also use your standard mouse pad as replacement gaskets 8) remove your old one, lay over the mouse pad, cut out he shape. voila, new gasket

gutterslide came up with that one i think. He said it didn't work as well as the stock gasket though.

I dont know where they came from my buddy in wisconsin had them in his garage and they were sealed with a honda cardboard backing. He was throwing all his honda stuff and i snagged them up.

Yea i went to honda today about it and they said they couldnt get me them.

I put some weatherstrip adhesive on both sides of my gasket today so im hoping that will work.
