fender rolling

ok so i will be getting Sportmax 501 rims soon and for those that dont know these are 15x8 offset 15 so basically these wheels would rub in hard turns, weight, etc.... ANYWAYS so i managed to find a fender roller (thanks rage!) and my question is:
since my rear quarter panels have some surface rust will i run into problems doing this? i would think that rusted metal would crack and not bend smoothly. my rust is mainly on the lip that i would roll... but, would it be better to actually cut this lip off or what.
the front fenders are 100% fine btw, its just the rears im sketchy about...

besides the 501s are pretty damn hot as well.
another question.. should i get the 15x8 or the 16x8
i have been debating for a long time now cause i think my Spun 15s look a bit small on my car but im afraid the 16s would cause more issues like rubbing in the wheel well. on all the pics i see of EF's with 15x8 501s they look damn hot except all those cars are SLAMMED.. i wouldnt be slammed so thats why im thinking it would look small... meh, idk..
if anything though the 15's are cheaper as well as tires are cheaper for them
decisions decisions
I think 15 is to small
you think i could do 16's with 50 rubber if the fenders are rolled or is that really pushing it. this is my daily driver and i have some pretty damn rough roads.
wussy JK ;-)
my rota's on my 5 door civic are 16 with a 195/40/16 tire on them and it was my daily drive for about 3 years. and the roads here in belgium aren't the best either. you just have to be carefull and keep an eye out for putholes etc.
but I can understand why you would go with a bigger tire.
but, the thing is slam'd to the flooo
haha too bad they dont make 15.5" wheels
in the end imma prolly go with 15... its cheaper that way and not as much risk...
I would go with the 15's as you will have more room for tire, and stretch. I like a little stretch to help with the travel of the tire under the fender. Little roll, little stretch and you should be good.
now, to answer my other question... will rust in the rear quarter panel lip be a big issue?
By the way you will need a heat gun when you roll. This will soften the metal up and help roll easier.
the way it always should be
Why not go 16x8 with 225/40-16s? That'd kick ass! I currently have 17x7.5 Rotas with 205/40-17s and it looks really good with my current drop. I'm probably going 235/30-18 in the front and 285/30-18 in the back once the project gets underway .
dude if i had 225 rubber im sure i would be in rub city... dontcha think?! i like stretched rubber though....
but as far as low profile stretch, even thoughs its jerk-worthy, i dont think it would be too practical as a daily driver going over major dips and holes in Savannah
I still think you can get away with some stretch and still have some protection on the wheels. Even a slight stretch will help them fit up under the car.
Remember this one?
here are some pics of my buddies streched tires.
before they blew some air in the tire
air in the tire
215/35/16 on a 10 wide wheel
but yes i remember that wago. i wouldnt go extreme stretch at all, derr. haha and curbs arent a problem for me. gosh i still cant decide fully if i want 16 or 15....
haha i can imagine taking 235 rims with 1985 tires and telling the people at Tire Kingdom to mount them. they'd be like....uhhh...
I personally think that you should maybe go with 16's on the wagon because the arches are higher and it will help fill them. It's a hard decision that I'm glad I don't have to make. :P
