RUST-help

What is the best way to fix the rust on the rear quarter?
I want to fix it myself. I do have some tools like miller welder and air tools but not the know how.
What type of metal should I buy and from where?
Pic when it was in the junkyard-

  • Ouch that doesn't look so good. I think trying to find another quarter in good condition would be your best bet. I would also check to see how much further the rust goes. Mine didn't look nearly as bad as yours but the inner part of the well was gone. I used regular sheet metal for mine.
  • That looks like the shape my rear quarters are in. Plus I've got my rocker panels and some other rust holes around the car to deal with as well. I've been wanting to take a bodyshop class for the longest time but it always conflicts with my work hours.

Would quarters from another Honda of the same year such as a civic fit or would there be a lot of work involved in making it fit?

I think the hardest part would be making the curves of the flares. Where did you by the sheet metal- ragenasian Or where can i get on the internet.

If you had the chance to do again what would you do different? The rear quarters came out nice.
  • I can get replacement arches for 4dr civics here. there is a thread about it somewhere that was started.

How much does it cost? an arm and a leg
  • You should be able to get replacement arches for 4 doors here that are aftermarket. Either way, aftermarket is way cheaper than honda.
  • I can get them for about 50 USD here in Germany.

just curious, how much did you pay for this wagon and did it have a title? or do you have to get a salvage title. im just wondering cause i've been eyeing this wagon at my junkyard but they dont have titles, also idk how much it would cost. everytime i go there i need to "wait for the owner" who never shows up :x

Yea about that, The story about car was that it was towed by a company called Whities, If the person that owned the car doesn't pick it up in 6 month the towing companies then owns it. Then that company sold it to the junkyard "as is". So then the junkyard can do what ever they want with it but selling the whole car because of not having the title. I told the son's owner of the junkyard that all I wanted was the all wheel drive. That if he wanted to, he could cut the whole top off so i wouldnt use as a car. He said ok, 400 dollars. But then i said the I want the whole interior. then he said ok I'll give you the whole car by with no title "as is"
I hate writing stories because I don't make sense.
Long story short, I bought it with no title for 400 dollars, Im going to change my old civic Vin into the junkyard one.
