Leaking Transfer case/ Disable 4wd?

Hello,

I have a 91 rt4wd I have a leak coming from my transfer case.
If I disable 4wd does that make the transfer case stop functioning? My goal is to get it to leak less until I can pull it.

Also If I pull the exhaust mani and oil pan can I get the transfer case off? OR will I have to drop the trans?

    No, disabling 4wd wont stop the leak.
    To remove transfer case you need to disconnect propeller shaft and pull ex manifold. If I remember correctly, there is no need to remove oil pan.
