Name that leak (trans/half shaft/transfer case) that drips onto cat!

My D16a6 is finally leaking a bit. I got these pictures finally and think it's the half shaft seal. anyone else have this happen? after driving for hours at high speeds, the oil drips like 5-10 drops onto the cat and it smokes like 4th of July. haha. around town it is no issue and don't notice, but wondering if anyone can with certainty say this is one seal or another....and if the seal is still available?!

I was thinking of maybe running a heavier weight? anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks dudes!

    Hi there

I replaced both of the CV axle seals when I installed my new ( used ) transmission last fall.

    This is what you need.

    P.N.

    Oil Seal (38x54x8) (Nok)

    Good luck

  • 14691 is the napa part # for the driver side axle(output shaft)seal.
15866 is for the passenger side.

I tried to find these seals locally and took the old seals with me to Napa , O'reilleys and Autozone.

They found some P.N. in their computer data base but the seals where the wrong size.

Then I ordered them from the OEM supplier online.

I got burnt a few times with the Napa cross-referencing my civic RT4WD parts.

crank and cam end seals, cam belt, tensioner, water pump, dizzy o-ring, valve cover gasket, spark plug seals, sump gasket, sump plug, sump plug washer, spark plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor, oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin air filter, flywheel bearing, skim flywheel, new clutch kit, throw out bearing (this is RT specific!)

A lot of this could probably be skipped, just take a look at areas around seals to see how they are doing and go from there. You could go even further if you wanted.... up to you.
