Fuel Problem

I have a 91 Civic wagon AWD 1.6 SHOC with a greddy turbo kit
it is using the 12.1 Vortech FMU a 255 LPH fuel pump and the black box from greddy for the map sensor
Im running 9 psi.
the problem is in second gear at full boost it'll pop the fuse to the fuel pump
I took this kit off my 99 civic and I didnt have any problem with that car

it's the stock wiring to the pump and it's the second pump
i think the pump is popping the fuse because the presure from the fmu.
the fmu is raising the pressure and the injector arent putin the fuel out fast enough.
So I was thinking of going with bigger injectors not too big just 10% bigger
I dont want to get in to trying to get my car tuned. Any help would be great......

  • Out of curiousity, why wouldn't you want it tuned? Find a good local tuner and have it street tuned, it would be easier than messing with this IMO.

If you want to stay fmu, then what you are planning is what I'd try.

On another note, have you figured out what that fuel pressure is. Stock is 35-40 (IDK if thats at WOT) and 9*12=108+40=148. I think you should definately get a tune and do it right because there is no way you would ever catch me running that kind of fuel pressure.
  • not saying that you dont know what your doing or anything, but where is the FMU at? did you mount it befor or after the fuel rail(acording to the direction of the fuel flow)? did you somehow put it on backwords?

please atleast just chip your pm6 with turbo edit and have it tunes i know your not trying to do this but what your doing is so hit and miss im sure it can work but your flying blind.

    -re-wire pump like i told u
    -sell your fmu on ebay
-chip your pm6 with turbo edit
    -buy my 340cc injectors
    -get it tuned

do those steps and i guarentee u wont regret it. its the cheapest most reliable way to make your car run perfect.
  • the main thing is the tuning in spokane i cant fined anyone that can tune.
my other turbo car has AEM standalone and no one can tune it they keep telling me to switch to SDS
I just my have to to seattle and have it tuned
