uhhhhhh the torque converter is located inside the auto tranny, it is the "heart and soul" of the automatic. its what makes an automatic, an automatic haha. AHEM basically, you cant live without
  • yeah but is there performance torque converters for our cars... i was lookin around they just give sizes.... not for car models.... the websites that i was on said that they improve better gear shifting for automatic cars...

mkay well in that case iono
  • you need to research how a torque convertor works.

Most SOHC's are rated at 2600-2800 rpm stall from the factory, $350 with get you a aftermarket one rated at 2800-2900 rpm stall, a waste of money.

    It won't help shifting though.

Until somone make a convertor with ATLEAST 3500 rpm stall NA/3800-4000 rpm stall boosted, it's not worth it.

OBD-2 cars can't use the higher stall, ecu detects the slippage and cuts back on power.
  • yeah i was thinkin and lookin at prices besides.... today i was drivin in the route 95 and this kids when around me (i was going like 70 mph) and start lookin at my car so i just press a little more the gas ( my mods are short intake, no cat converter, mufller and i use performance oil) and i smoked him.... when i notice it i was goin 90 mph) im tryin to get install my headers on my car ( i need some to modify the ones i have to fit my 4wd) and also install an exhaust system like 2.5" and ground wire..... good enough for a regular driving lol

I-95 is where it all happens 8) just stay safe, all you need is to run into a pole doing 90 :?

you shouldnt need an exhaust bigger then a 2.25... if you go too big you'll start to lose power. thus sayeth Skunk2 Racing.
  • what size should i get for my civic i mean what size is the stock one and should i go for 3".... i already went against a post when i was drifting lol im fixin right now my wagon but hey still runs great

NOOO dont go 3" unless you have boost of some sorta. the stock exhaust is like 1.5 or something really small. almost all performance exhaust companies such as Skunk2, Apexi, Thermal R&D have a 2.25 inch exhaust for the 4th gen civic.. even for 3rd gen tegs. if you go any bigger then a 2.5 you'll lose too much backpressure which in turn loses power. i think the engine will backfire actually. so if i were you i would get a 2.25 inch exhaust system. i have that on my wagon right now and its great. thats my 2 cents
  • thanks dude so 2.25 or 2.5 will work on my car... i dont have a cat converter tyoo
  • i would go with 2 1/4" if your leaving it N/A. if you boost it(automatic :? )then go with 2.5" up to about 230-250 hp. after that, go with 3". you wont need bigger than that with a d-series for the street.
  • i think im goin to 2.5" cause i already have short air intake, plannin to install headers, maniflod, and racing radiator, oh and ground wirin w stabilizer ... so i think that will be good

i've got all those too
  • nice  ..... so 2.5 is good right dude?
  • 2" will be enough

2.25" was plenty with 100 shot of nitrous

You going with 2.5" will loose a little torque and just be noisy.
