I'm looking at trading my 90 2wd wagon for a 91 rt. I don't know much about the rt. My question is how long do the drivetrains and 4wd mechanisms last? The rt has 220k and my 2wd has 150k. Would it be worth it?
Haha that is true truckslammer, I've realized hondas last forever. And Low, I checked the u-joints and they seemed in pretty good shape. But the only thing is that the a6 seemed to be burning rings, the rt struggled to do 40. But I do have a dohc zc to swap.
im at 314k and just need to replace my ujoints - and i had to reweld the diff mount bolt hole back to the frame
i doubt anyone else had this problem. my dumbass ran the shit out of my car with bad ujoints for so long and so hard it ripped the diff out.
oh this car wont die and i wont let it lol im over 10k us $ just keeping it on the road, after 3 or so accidents, 3rd motor and 2nd tranny. check my build it will fill in the gaps.
i concur! i want videos how bout this... i meet you half way with my spare tranny and well take turns destroying your transmission and then as a team we put my tranny on video document the whole thing and part ways. like a car porno no homo. lol
Yeah, I wish I had video of that night. Somehow nobody ever captures the really crazy sh!t. I need a videographer sidekick like Luke Wilcox has!
back on the derailed topic, though:
reverse gear is a weak spot in these trannies. The one that's in my car now was flawless until I got stuck in some door-deep slop and really romped on reverse to get out. It's been noisy in reverse ever since.

I have a '91 RT4WD with 260K on the clock and parts from another '91 RT4WD that had 220K on the clock.
Only thing I had to replace were the u-joints in the driveshaft.

(6 foot tabletop jumps in boost not recommended)
