Good or bad idea?

I have function form type ones on my 88 rt4wd. I have the adjusting rings/collars threaded as low as they can go without falling off. Would it hurt to just remove the rings? Sorry if this has been asked previously but I didn't want to search for the thread on my phone.

As far as I see and if I saw the right image, you can remove both the small gold ring and the lower gold ring of the 2 spring-adjust rings and let the top one rest on the red-fastening-fastening section.

I'm not sure what Vladi is saying but I vote no. They're engineered to be adjustable throughout the range available. By removing one ring that doesn't have an allen bolt to squeeze to the tread body, you will allow the other to vibrate and fall off at any given time while driving. And it could happen to any of the 4 points at any given time causing some dangerous conditions to drive in.

This is how I pictured it after seeing the googled pics.
As a matter of fact this is how my D2 set sits (+a shorter springs)
By removing the 2 rings you get about 2cm more low (0.8 inch)
You can get much much lower by ordering shorter springs.

Never seen allen bolts in Coilover-rings tho.

My Progress perches have allen bolts in the collar for locking the collar down.

Usually when there are 2 separate collars, they are tightened together to lock them in place.

I'm just gonna thread the bottom of the type ones that sit in the front forks and the bottom of the rears that bolt into the lca's all the way up. That way the springs sit low as possible without removing anything and the bottom will just be threaded as deep as possible. I'll try and take before and after pics to better explain my idea.

I was thinking you maxxed out on the normal possibilities to go lower.
