headlight buzzer schematic??

didn't someone about a year ago post a schematic and a brief how-to on wiring in a piezo electric buzzer as a headlight warning alarm?

I tried a search for 'headlight warning' and 'headlight buzzer' and I went through the 2 page list in the "Electronics & Fueling"

somebody have a better memory than me?

thanks!

If you used those exact search terms then you'll find every article ever with either 'headlight' OR 'warning'.

A better search term would have been "Headlight AND buzzer" or "Headlight AND warning". Hope that helps for future searches. :)
  • aha! thanks for that tip. I know boolean operators & such but the forum here highly resembles the other one I watch and that search engine doesn't accept 'em.

    good to know.

  • This rocks!
Wish I knew this when I had my CRX with the tiny tiny lightweight battery.
If i left them on for 10 mins it would be drained!

    Thanks guys!
  • I really like DIY stuff so...

I bought a $3.49 buzzer at Radio Crap, soldered a set of leads to it (it's a board mounted unit & positive is clearly marked) & installed according to directions.
    wouldn't work.
tested the buzzer to the battery, red to positive, etc. worked great.
played around with the side of the fuses attached. nothing better. and yes, my defroster works fine.

went to the radio fuse instead. works perfectly.

well, except that I connected it to the back side of the radio fuse so that if the lights are on with the ignition off, the buzzer sounds but the radio will stay on with the key off. the OEM wiring shouldn't normally do that. doesn't bother me, the buzzer works perfectly if the radio is off, lights are on and the key is off.

  • if you really have the recycling/reuse bug find a 12VDC buzzer out of something you may be throwing out or someone's giving away. like an old PC case.

wished I'd thought of that before the $3.50 left my pocket... I'm a cheap SOB.

    same here, good advice!

couldn't you also use on of those things that play music in birthday cards?

    just a thought.

    LOL.

Imagine leaving your lights on and removing the keys and hearing "Happy Birthday".

'Happy birthday, you're buying a new battery.... fuckaaaa!'

    lolerzz
  • Hey WAgo wire both the accessory and 12v radio wires right into the 12v car wire. Then you can have the radio on without the keys.
