Brake lights stay on!!

The title sums it up pretty well. Brake lights are stuck on. I'm new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

is the rubber bumper that the brakelight switch hits still in place on the pedal?

I found pieces of it in my floor. I've heard that it's a brake light switch. I'm going to get a new one but, i don't know how to replace it.

Do not replace the switch, Just climb under the dash and tape a pair of pennies to your pedal. Where the piece of plastic (that your looking at on your floorboard) used to be located.. It is the piece of plastic near the top of the brake pedal lever. It's like a seat that the brake light switch's plunger hits. Position the pennies so that they cover the hole where the plunger stop/ seat used to be.

the previous owner of one of my civics glued a quarter to where the clutch bumper should have been. i like the pennies better. its cheaper.
