rt4wd question

I finally started driving my rt4wd wagon this past week and noticed something strange. When i am driving on the interstate the rear seems to get power off and on in a 10-12 second intervals....10 seconds front wheel drive and then 10 seconds rear wheel drive...etc. Only when i reach about 55 mph did i notice this. if i say go 52 mph...no funky stuff. aslso if i go about 65 it stops. is that crazy or am i?? :) thanks for any info

Sounds like your VC might have some issues.

i was thinking the same actually...i can change it to jsut fwd right?? with jsut unbolting a bolt and moving a lever over?? i read somewhere on here about it but i am not sure if it is for a 90 wagon...i thought it was for the older 84-87 wagons.

  • Your 1990 should have that switch.....I recently drove my 1991 in 2WD for 6 weeks while I had my u joints rebuilt on the drive shaft.

  • my wagon starting doing this on the freeway the other day. then the guts from the rear differential got sprayed all over the freeway. the car will barely move now.

ive got a spare viscouse coupler for sale. im also in the works with a guy making me a 100% new driveline with serviceable U-joints and no viscouse coupler anymore. im gunna have him make one for the CRX and see how it turns out then get one for my wagon as well. ill post some pix of the driveline when its done.
  • I am very interested to see how that turns out Turbo-Teg....I just had my u joints rebuilt and the only shop that would do them charged me $400.00!!!!!!! Keep me posted please.

    Cheers
