1st gen Shuttle, 1.4 EV + 5-speed manual tranny

Band Wagon
Hey civicwagon.com,
After introducing myself I would like to start the build thread here for my wagon. It is a white 1st gen Shuttle, 1.4 EV + 5-speed manual tranny, air condition, no power windows or power locks.
I've got this car a week ago, it's condition makes me happy: no rust, fresh paint job, needs minor fixes to exterior elements and windshield replaced, and needs re-upholstery for the exterior. The car was over-heating so this was one of the first issues we have addressed. We have removed the dead thermostat for summer (will get the replacement shortly), replaced the electric fan switch (another thermostat that triggers the electric fan), added the compression reservoire (where the excessive liquid goes once it expands after heating)
And i have decided to clean up the interior, since this car will be for a long time with me. I disassembled the interior, removed the carpet and washed everything, as well as the car body itself:

The main problem for now is the engine. It takes a lot of oil, which is no good. I am deciding whether to swap it out now for some D series, or to fix the motor, flush all fluids and give that EV another try (should live for another year or so). The reason I am here is probably to get more info on swapping the D-series into my wagon.
