where to get performance stronger motor mounts?

949949 Senior Wagonist
i am working on my turbo mod and i noticed my front motor mounts are broken.

are there a link to any place that have really strong or stiff direct bolt on motor mounts for the 91 wagon 4wd?

i am even up for the mounts that are made of full aluminum or metal with little or no bushing in them.

energy suspension motor mount inserts are prolly gunna be your best bet. they are cheap look them up on ebay i think i spent like 60 bucks on all 4 shipped.

turbo-teg is right those worked pretty well for me.

$60 for all four inserts is a great deal.

If you have more time than money...or sense... try injecting the mounts with polyurethane.
I did this on one of my Protege mounts that is notorious for tearing.
Basically taped up one side of the mount.
Used a caulk gun to apply polyurethane window sealant (from Home Depot) in all the empty space of the rubber insert.
Takes a day or two to dry depending on climate.
You end up with a solid rubber/urethane hybrid mount. Its noticeably stiffer than stock but not quite as stiff as full urethane mounts.

Total cost, with a new caulk gun: $14.

i actually am looking for just full replacements. i am into the billet ones with full stiff racing bushings in them or what ever they are. i am looking for any site that has the replacements.

i wanted harder ones then the energy suspension.
  • jimfab, and inovative mounts makes aftermarket d-series mounts for the ef.
  • the poly ones (like energy suspension) are really hard, and aftermarket mounts usually come with polyurethane bushings... Davens' suggestion is just a down and dirty (and cheap) way to accomplish almost the same stiffness as the aftermarket ones.

    which kit part number ?

will it have it for all four areas?
because when i looked up the energy suspension site, they only had #16.1104 and that contained only 2 bushings.

i got mine from ebay all 4. the tranny mount on the 4wd's doesnt line up 100% with the FWD mounts but it still works.
  • Hasport has made some new Billet Aluminum EF D series mounts...
    http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread/2092480

Think those will fit the 4WD Wago?
  • 949949 Senior Wagonist
i was reading it and they say they dont offer the front mount. my front is totally gone. so i would definely need to have 4 mounts.
  • For solid mounting, go Hasbro.

They have a large range of billet aluminium mounts for Honda's.

However, they do tranfer a large amount of vinbration and noise to the chassis, and hence the driver.

yeah i saw that. i thought so too.

i keep getting different answers on this question. can someone finally clear up this one.

are the rear, left, and right engine mount all the same on all the ef's?

i am reading different facts from different people. i know the fronts are nearly impossible to find now and are said we dont need them being many of the aftermarket mounts are very stiff as it is. someone else said the other three are the same so i can just pick up which ever fits the other ef's. another person told me that the passenger side mount wont work on my car.

    my ride: 4wd 91 wagon.

just get some motor mount inserts the mount on top of the 4wd trannies is tottaly different so a full replacement billet kit will only let u use the rear, drivers, and front mount if it even comes with a front.

    UPDATE!!!

I just came back from Innovative Mounts in placentia california. they are kinda in driving distance from me. I thought i would share this bit of info.

I called this morning and asked if they had any mounts for my 4wd wagon. the guy said he did have EF mounts but wasnt sure if they would fit 4wd. he said if i am close to just come down and him look at it. so i was, sure.... why not.

sure enough he looked at the car and said that the passenger side is different then the other EF's. But not a problem he can take care of it because they make the mounts there. what he will do is fab one up either steel or billet aluminum. the billet would take longer but he can do it. i looked at the engine bay and i cant even see the mounts so i said steel is good. so tomarrow im going to leave the car there so he can make them. also he said they are making a new traction bar which is being released next week. there are no pictures or advertisements yet, but im going to get one tomarrow anyways. why not today, cause they are being powder coated as i type this. so tomarrow im getting a brand new traction bar for a really good price and also a custom made engine mount for all four corners if i want. the only thing is that they also custom their own rubber mounts cause they have their own company that makes the ployeurothane inserts so i can get any stiffness i want. since i am not looking to wait ill just ask for what they currently have and have it all done tomarrow.

    im pretty excited about this.
if there are anyone else who wants a traction bar or engine mounts for their wagon 2wdd or 4wd this is the place who can make it happen.
i dont work there or am i affiliated with them, i just wanted to share some info.

customer service was great with them, so far
i tried calling the others like hasport, explicit speed, etc. but no answer on the phone.

AWSOME! post pics when u get all your parts back and installed!

i just called him and decided to go with the billet mounts. he said that he has the steel version but in 10 days or so he will have the billet in. so i guess there isnt much of a price difference. im just gonna go with the billet and wait. they have on hand 3 stiffness setting. 60A, 75A, and 85A. which one should i go with?

also they can make any color. im not sure whats on hand being i dont want to wait for ever illl just go with what they have. most likely they will have black and red on hand. im thinking of going with red. what you all think? what stiffness should i go with?

this is a sample of what the steel finish looks like with a red insert. i can ask for any color insert but it would depend on how long i plan to wait. so i probably will take what ever color they have at the time cause i dont think i can wait.

Sounds like a good plan, mate. Share the pics with us once you are done. Haven't the foggiest about which stiffness to go for though, maybe the next one above stock?
  • I know that on a cold winter day, stiff mounts vibrate the car like crazy until they warm up... which takes awhile. But you live in cali, so you don't have to worry about that. I would ask them what the difference is and what do they suggest. I would think that all of them are more stiff than stock...
  • 949949 Senior Wagonist
yeah i did ask the other day about that.

he said most purchase the 75A. the 10 second cars use the 85A. i dont think he mentioned anything about the 60A's. being used very much.

i feel i might enjoy the 75A much more as a daily driver. but right now in the back of my mind i am kinda wondering how it would feel to have an 85A.

i think i might like the bronze anodized mounts. what you all think?
my wagon is brown. or should i get something that will make them stand out more?

i think either the red or silver mounts would look good with your brown paint.
  • Ahh sorry guys, rush of blood to the head.

    Its Hasport, not Hasbro (dick!)

Get them here, they do a lot of stuff for Honda's

on my last civic i wanted stiffer mounts also. figured i wanted the cheapest possible that will do the job good. ended up going down to Grainger and got some liquid poly 94a stiffness. taped up on side and mixxed both parts together and poured it in, let it dry overnight and they were good to go. total cost of about $30 and they were stiff as hell. my motor used to rock back and forth but wouldn't even budge after that, helped with wheel hop also and had nice solid shifts because there wasn't any movement.

    update:

just got off the phone with innovative. they are making our 4wd wagon kit as i speak. they should be done by next month or mid next month.

    the kit will include

3 or 4 engine mounts depends on what you ask for.
    also...
    the rear differential mounts.
its very exciting. for all of you out there that have had the issue with the soft rear diff mount they have now come up with something that will cover that.

also they are offering 5 stiffness settting for the whole kit.
    60A
    75A
    85A
    and the new ones
    90A
    full billet solid mounts!!!!
the owner is going to keep me informed and i am getting the first set on the old wagon.

i still recommend their traction bar. very nice. they will also do what ever you want, custom if you need.
