B18 tranny Really high RPM

Hello HCW i recently put a rebuilt b18a1 tranny in my wagon powered by a b20b motor... everything but my highway rpm is fine... when Im at 65 mph my rpm is at 3700+. At this speed it just sounds like the motor is working so hard. The reason i installed this tranny was to have a lower 5th gear. Anybody have any ideas? Maybe my transmission guy messed something up when rebuilding?

Oh one more thing i am running 13" steelies as of right now... i know a bugger wheel will make a difference but i dont think it will make me happy enough... I havent done much research on this but figured i would ask friends before I made a 1 time thread in a random forum and get haggled. Thanks in advanced.

Taller tires will have a big impact. try it before you pull the tranny again for sure.

I run a LS trannny behind my b18 and If I ran 3700 rpms I'd be at 80plus.

I also have the short gear ys1 tranny and at 70 I'm right at about 4 grand. Its the price u pay to have quickness but no high end
  • I hate it lol I'll trade any of you lol. It's so scary taking a long trim I don't want to blow anything
