My '89 2wd Wago

Figured I would start a thread for this. Picked this thing up for $700 bucks, and it definitely needed and still needs some help. We will see if I keep it long enough to make it as good as it can be.

Here's pics of how it looked when I got it, other than the wheels being blue.

Cleaned it up some, the interior was haggard...still needs some help.

Replaced the rear emblems as they were just painted over

Lowered the car some more, put on del sol fat fives and painted them white. Also tried to color match the gas door, got a pass side mirror (thanks shea), and put some different seats in. Also put a legitimate exhaust on the car as the one on there was ran straight over the rear cross member, tack welded to the rear crossmember and held up with chicken wire lol.

Thats it for now, still needs a lot of work and help. We will see where it goes haha. And no that is not over spray on the rear pass tire, just dust...it wiped right off.

Also picked up a pass side corner from shenrie tonight, redid the moldings with some trim restorer and tinted the tail lights as they were all effed.

Plans right now consist of just cleaning it up as much as I possibly can. Would like some different wheels as these are intended for autox and I dont really want to ruin my Azenis street driving. Also needs some new struts, a drivers side door panel, front splash guards, bumpers and some more power. So those are the plans for now, not necessarily in that order.
I have my work cut out for me, but I enjoy projects like this. The seats are out of an EK hatch and were a royal pain to get in lol
  • look forward to what you do with this wagon...especially seeing some of your past cars! where did you pick up the wheel paint here in town? I was looking to painting my winter wheels white as well...

Usually I get just automotive paint in whatever color I need from autozone, then use the high temp wheel clear coat. Generally it works out pretty well and is fairly durable.

And thank you sir! I'll try to keep the standard with this one.

Lol I don't plan on selling this. It's a pain in the arse to find a wagon these days, even a 2wd one, for a decent price:) And you know I will lol.

So over the past few days I've done some more cleaning up.
Tinted the tails as they were all cracked and messed up from someones previous attempt at tinting them
Used some trim restorer on all the moldings and side mirrors
Painted the bumpers with trim restorer and tinted the blinker lights also
    Blacked out all the emblems
I personally think it looks 100x better with just those little things done, I think next I may try to paint the hood to match the rest of the car....well the front half anyways haha. I really need to source at least a drivers side door panel and some front splash guards. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics haha.
