misfire fuel cutout ???

so recently i blew my timing belt while i was on the highway :( i bent 4 valves and decided to swap out the head. i bought a d15 jdm head off my buddy with a skunk 2 cam gear , its a vtec head btw a 93 at that . after i swapped put everything at tdc and put the belt on the car wouldnt start we had to advance the dizzy 7 degrees to get it to run . i know your probably all saying thats your problem right there but it isnt! the car runs fine but at constant speed on the highway the rpms jump all over and the car will bog and sometimes shutoff my buddy said its probably the iacv but im not sure also its running on the old 2 injector setup rather then 4 any ideas?

  • Did you double check to make sure you have it in time and do you have a check engine light on?
  • i do have a light on the timing should be dead right
i dont really understAND the timing marks on the skunk 2 cam gear though

Ok, so what you're describing sounds like a timing issue to me. When you did that minime setup you always have to set the timimg a little off in order to make up for the deck/height difference. Also you say it idles fine? Then your iacv is ok. Jumping around at higher rpm sounds like your ecu can't find where to set your ignition timing.
  • so is it an ecu issue or a timing one im starting to lean towards timing i heard .75 degrees advanced is what they need to be set at ?? on the mini me. any confirmation. also im going to be doing the 4 injector swap soon, i have to hit the yard and pull my dash harness thats ll i have left to get
