NORTHWEST 88 RT4WD - Photo heavy

So I've been on the forums for a while now and never got around to making my build thread so I guess its about time haha. And my introduction thread can be found here with some random info and pictures http://www.hondacivicwagon.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=7523.

So my story is I had a 91 legacy wagon before but it finally died after beating it to death and was on the search for a new car. At first I was just going to get a civic sedan and a friend reminded me that there were civic wagons (I have a wagon fetish haha) so I decided to just go for one instead. So I finally acquire one with the help of said friend. It's a 1988 RT4WD with a bum motor and some battle damage with bits of rust but nothing super crazy. My friend was able to rebuild the motor for me and I've just been trying to fix the little things ever since. Like I said in my introduction thread I have a very basic knowledge of cars but still working on it. I haven't really done anything to it besides put on some bottlecaps and an exhaust. On to the pictures!

So that's pretty much it. Replaced a bunch of stuff that needed fixing and have just been using it as my daily. I'm hoping to drop it on some better wheels in the future because the ride height is crazy high but we'll see how it goes, kind of want to get an auto with power options now haha.

Really nice progress so far. What are plans for it? Lower or staying stock height? Looks just like my first RT, Makes miss her a little. Keep it up.
  • Did you go to clark college I swear i used to see this wagon like every day when i drove my blue wagon.
  • H_civic66: Thanks man. My plans are just to keep it stock. Even though I have bouts of wanting to lower it and slapping my DA and volvo lips on. Never happens though because I lack the resources and skill to actually do it haha.

Ledler: You did see this wagon every day when you drove your blue wagon! Haha. I'm still going to Clark and have daily classes. There's like 3 different blue wagons that I've seen regularly at Clark too. Which one was yours? My wagon is easy to recognize because of the stickers. NW on the back and the green heart in washington one on the front.
  • Mine had a got snow sticker in the back as well as a HCW sticker. Sold it a while ago though. Now I have my red one
  • I don't remember seeing that one. Just checked your build thread though and your red rt is pretty clean.

Thanks man. Its coming along pretty good. I was gonna start saving for another wagon. But i think a Ruckus would be a better idea since I'm starting school and won't be able to afford gas. what else do you plan on doing to your wagon??
  • I'm probably just going to be selling it here soon :( I need something with power options haha. Searching for a 96-98 EK LX sedan. I'm planning on possibly getting a ruckus too. There was a built one with a gy6 for $2500. There's a local group in Portland that does rides/meets too.
  • Selling the wagon!? :( But i heard those GY6 swaps rip. If you do actually decide to sell the wagon let me know because my girlfriend is in the market for one.
  • Yeah if I can get a ruckus with a gy6 swap already I could use it as a daily to Clark haha. But yeah unfortunately I am going to have to sell the wagon soon :(
  • No bueno :(

Unfortunate update: I think my tranny is going out. When it's hot, I can't get into 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear. I replaced the spring that went to my clutch pedal that broke a week ago and tightened my tranny cable and those didn't work. Only option I have now is to change my tranny fluid which hopefully isn't super difficult and will fix the problem. Sucks because I was actually planning to keep the wagon for a while longer and now it's messed up now.

Man that sucks. When you change your fluid, you may want to try some of that synchromesh stuff.

Yeah sucks big time. I'm having wagon withdrawals haha. I've been driving my sisters mazda protege and I didn't realize how much fun the wagon is to drive! I wanted to sell my wagon to get something newer that's auto with power options but I didn't realize how accustomed I am to driving manual. Hopefully I'll be able to fix my wagon soon (within the next few weeks) and be driving around because it fucking sucks just looking at it and not being able to enjoy driving it.
  • Any updates I know that you had it up on craigslist. I hope that you can get it up and running again. You don't really want to sell it!!!! Have you bought the fluid yet?? I can help you if you need I work just down the road from Orchards park. Let me know
  • jchen360jchen360 Wagonist
No real updates. Its just been sitting, I'm going to get it up and running again and I have no intention of selling it anytime soon anymore. My wagon withdrawals are getting more serious by the day haha. And yeah I bought 3 qts of Honda MTF and a funnel for it. I haven't been able to work on it because I've been having back to back midterms that I need to ace so I missed all the nice days to work on it. And yeah I really appreciate the offer and I might have to take you up on it! haha I'll definitely let you know.
