Tach/sender specs?

I'm completely replacing the engine, and I want the tachometer to work. I've got a tach sender and a magnets with a collar; they do 2 pulses per revolution.

Does the Wagon tachometer expect 2/rev, or will I have to replace the tach? (Some Haynes manual or something told me it was 2.5/rev. I'm hoping they were wrong, and someone here has definitive information.)

I know it's been a long time, but I'm about to connect that tachometer. I briefly saw, in a Helms manual somewhere, that the tach sensor wire is blue. Anybody with a tach care to corroborate?
