Front camber adjustment

I was hoping to get input/experience with these two products:

http://www.spcalignment.com/index.php?o ... &pid=67320

vs.

http://www.spcalignment.com/index.php?o ... &pid=84955

I had the 67320 kit on my ef, and they pushed the upper controll arm up so much it would hit the inner fender on moderate bumps.
I kind of get the feeling the 84955 might be tougher to adjust.

  • I have never used the 1st one but the second worked fine for me on a couple of my 91 si's, depends how low, i dont tuck my tires i like 1 finger width from tire to the fender 1/2 inch give or take and with that i had no problems/ clearance issues.

My favorite one was "Skunk2 Front Pro Series Camber Kit 88-91 Civic" cost $ but was worth it to me.
  • So you used the ones that replaced the controll arm mounting bolts, not the ball joint, right?
  • yea, I put them in with no care drove it to my buddies shop and he trued the car, he said it was an ok setup but not a top dollar one. I had no problems and my tires wore down great, the car drove straight if i let go of the wheel-thats all i care about. but for hard racing or auto cross I dont know how good they would hold up.
I would say its trial and error, hit a salvage yard or ebay get a used set for cheap just to try some.

an example i had done, after trying 4 different coil over setups new, used and driving everyone of my buddies cars i ended up liking cheap ebay coil overs "40$ i think" with oem GSR shocks on my eg hatch and it was not because it was cheap "it fit my driving, and handled better in my opinion"
  • Both are junk.

Agree with silvertoe the Skunk2 is a good choice. However I am one of those camber kits are useless guys.
  • Thanks for the input! JayTee could you be more specific than "junk"? Did they slip/wear out/break...?

^^^ camber kits are useless guy ^^^^

Im sure they would slip nothing is perfect, mine never did tho. What type of uses are you trying to get out of them? race, DD, DD with track on the weekend?

Heh. The first one, poor design. Not only does it change the oem geometry but also defeats the purpose of even having a camber kit. Camber kits are generally designed for lowered vehicles, take a look at that product. Its a good 3/4+ inch taller than a factory joint, hense moving your upper control arm even closer to shock tower. If you are lowered with this product I would bet it will slap the shock tower even on the slightest bump.

Second link. These are just notorious for breaking and moving. These are the type of camber kit every crap tire shop tries to sell you.

It really boils down to what you are trying to accomplish, why do you think you need a camber kit?

    Toe kills tires, not camber.

    Edit, I missed this

I assume that is the top one. Pretty much what I figured
  • Toe is all squared up, and I'm at about -2' camber all around. I found in wet/snowy situations i preferred the handling of my old car with no camber, but was annoyed that the ball joint style hit the fender... like u said. I don't race or autocross, this is my daily, and wagons look dumb (imo), at stock height. I was worried that the others would slip, but people said that about the ball joint style too, but mine didn't.
