help rear seat wont go down

I have a stock 91 dx wagon and i bought some original pull tabs but i found out that the metal all thread piece that goes into the hole is gone on both sides and my seats won't unclip from the mount i have tried pretty much everything i can think of to get it to unclip but nothing my last resort is to cut the metal around it on the seat to grt access to the teeth and make it unclip i dont know what else to do please help i dont want to have to cut the seat
