Crazy electrical problems?!?!

I had this problem with my key getting stuck in my ignition but I fixed that when I looped the two thick black wires together and I put the auto shifter in park. It worked fine till the other day. The key got stuck again. I noticed the gauge cluster wasn't reading the car was in park. Then all kinds of electrical problems ensued. My clock went out, then my tach went, temp gauge, followed by gas gauge went, my auto seat belt wouldn't go back. My turn signals went(still have my hazards) the door chime goes off when the doors open even tho the car is running. Then magically my brake lights came on and were stuck on....
I have no clue what could all the sudden cause this? Could it possibly be the battery? The terminals on my battery look disfigured for some reason...I don't know what's going on. I'm hoping it was just something funky with that battery/ground. Getting a new battery today hope that fixes it.
If anyone has any other suggestions as to what it could be? Lmk

Get a new ignition switch, fix the wires and check all your grounds
  • this is what the terminal looks like....all deformed

Your prob is basically off of one circuit.Any blown fuses like #1.

:? Did you do a rear battery truck mount?

:!:  Track down the lit brake light first. Some wire is shorting to the brake lites causing it to light, then causing everything else to blow.Maybe caused by the battery relocation.
  • yeah i tracked it down and found the problem.
    1. the battery was fried
    2. blew a fuse
    3. the brake lights were sticking on from the sensor under the brake. so a little adjustment fixed that.
man i was worried i thought something really major was going on. but glad it was just a lil fluke...got it fixed, wagons been running great
    :) that is all!
