I have never loved a car but...

How I came to be hear
*warning long read*
I never really thought much of Honda's. I knew people liked them previous gens by the fact that you still see so many of them on the roads. But never really wanted one. As fate would have it my last cars transmission locked up on the side of the highway and was then swiftly stolen the next day. So after checking all with all the towing companies we filed a stolen car report and went searching for a new car.
We looked at some Subaru's, VW's, mazda 4x4 mpv's(still kinda want) but nothing was near a good operational condition. If we had a driveway or garage of our own I would have taken one and fix it but no such luck. Then I saw one. "civic AWD wagon" on criagslist for $800 looked great with a clean body and a rally style exterior parts. This got my attention and I called them up. But like with the other cars it need a good deal of work so it was a no go.
Next day I found another one selling for 1.5k. I called them and they said they were going to sell it to another gentleman in the town I am in but the guy never showed up. Since they were already in town they picked us up and took us to where they parked the car.
*alert stupid sappy part*
After a long ride through a large neighborhood we arrived. So then I see the car. Red with a strait body, clean interior and a few good bumper stickers. It ran good with no bad noises and all functions checking off. It took some convincing but we went ahead and got it. In the oddest way I felt as I found the car version of myself. I didn't really understand it then but later I started to get it. This car has seen a lot of road, a lot of dirt, its not perfect and needs some work but you don't see these very often and it can drive in a very unique way.

About two weeks after we got it some idiot/s tried to break into in via prying the back hatch but failed. There was nothing in there to steal but some popcans and the old stereo not even worth $10 at the pawn shop. Then 2 months later an unlicensed driver did a t-bone on the drivers side rear door. It was only at about 5mph but that was enough to make the door leak when it rained so I duct taped it and didn't open it.
Now that I have a good job I have been taking care all these little things. Found a couple Honda wagons at the u-pull out side of Tigard and picked the hatch off one. (That was 2 months ago so they might still be there.) Planning on lifting it and upgrading the bushing at the same time and throwing bigger offroad tires in as well as giving it the works to maximize its MPG and power and turn it into the best practical rally car I can.
I would love to hear peoples advise and idea's as well as see other peoples cars in person.
